aizatto··on Have we overestimated the effectiveness of psychotherapy?
I built a platform for myself to think about life's deepest questions, and I've been going around asking people their questions.

On my business cards are different set of questions, and here are some of the answers

https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/packages/189/business-cards-i...

So far I have 50,000+ questions, 3,600+ answers (mostly mine)

The platform isn't about advice, it's about people answering the deep questions to themselves.

aizatto··on Ask HN: Which books have made you introspect?
I can say I've got through something similar.

A book that made me very introspective was David Brook's The Road To Character . It made me ask my self a lot of questions which I have documented here https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/packages/55/david-brooks-humi...

Another book was Paul Kalanathi's When Breath Becomes Air I also copied some quotes, questions, and answers here https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/packages/135/paul-kalanithis-...

I'd recommend reading biographies because they can help you give perspective about how a person leads their life. The ones I found thoroughly fun was Trevor Noah's Born a Crime, Phil Knight's Shoe Dog.

aizatto··on Introspect Yourself
Understanding yourself is something I've been advocating for a while. I've developed a platform where the goal was to ask yourself deep questions https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/

It has helped me have a more holistic view of myself through a wide range of question and topics, and especially from the answers my friends have shared.

aizatto··on People Don't Know Themselves Very Well
Two different kinds of questions :)

I think analyzing your beliefs is also important as well!

I've added yours:

aizatto··on People Don't Know Themselves Very Well
For me, knowing myself well is done by asking questions, and journaling about it.

I built a platform where I ask myself deep questions https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/

For me, it has helped give me a better holistic view of myself. At the moment I have over 35,000+ questions, and almost 2700 topics/keywords.

It is mostly me sharing at the moment, though there are some other users.

aizatto··on Useful Mental Models (2016)
I think this is great! I love to explore how I think by asking myself questions on how I do things, be it decision making or planning.

I created this site which I use to help me figure things out.

aizatto··on Ask HN: 2018 resolutions?
I put together a list of questions to ask yourself questions about your past year, and the new year

https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/packages/130/new-years-reflec...

This is a site I developed to really help me understand myself better

aizatto··on Ask HN: What did you work on in 2017?
I built https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/

It was a site I put together to help me understand myself a lot better by asking myself the hard questions in life, and constantly reiterating it.

aizatto··on Resistance to Being Productive
Some very shallow points, but this article looks like it only applies for the author.

I think its great that everyone knows why they are hesitant to do things, and I see some great comments here.

I've also been collecting my thoughts on why I'm "hesitant" as well.

I've made a site to document my thought processes.

https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/en/topics/hesitating/

I've also thought about other keywords such as "start" and "focus"

https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/en/topics/starting/

https://www.deepthoughtapp.com/en/topics/focus/

This process has really helped me better understand myself, and how I operate. I hope it can help others as well.

Just to flip it around, maybe "lazy" would be interesting as well.

aizatto··on Show HN: How to ensure JavaScript code quality
Ditto, this is the same thing I did for a 16,000+ line app.

I used eslint ( https://eslint.org ) and prettier ( https://prettier.io ), and using airbnb's JavaScript Style Guide as a reference point ( https://github.com/airbnb/javascript ), I would enable rules one by one. Then slowly rule by rule (commit by commit) I would clean up the code base.

aizatto··on Raneto – Markdown Knowledgebase Platform
I've been using Phenomic https://phenomic.io for my personal site https://www.aizatto.com
aizatto··on Ask HN: Do you keep track of what you learn? how?
In Markdown files and Google Spreadsheets.

The markdown files are published to my site...which I accidentally overwrote https://www.aizatto.com/notes/

Google Spreadsheets example: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15J9dbIjHmKP9ShYuy3wm...

aizatto··on Ask HN: Does success in work bring you happiness?
I think this is a really good question.

I've been asking myself similar questions, and made a site for it at https://www.deepthoughtapp.com

I've been using this as a way to understand myself better.

Success at work does bring me happiness. But happiness is fleeting as well. There are moments of frustration at work, which bring my mood down. I believe the feeling of progress drives a lot of happiness.

I'm trying: - to better to deal with the frustration - to accept accept frustration as the cost of happiness. I don't think there can be happiness without frustration. - to understand my rhythms of highs and lows better - look at small successes, daily successes, personal growth - find fulfillment. What makes me fulfilled. - Understand my motivators. The need for autonomy, mastery, and the purpose of it all.
