Not sure what the point of this is.

3d printed houses are here and make this irrelevant

airtonix··on Rv, a new kind of Ruby management tool
Nix is too hard.

airtonix··on The cost of interrupted work (2023)
up up up up ... you went too far....
airtonix··on How I code with AI on a budget/free
it might be free, private, blazing fast (if you choose a model with appropriate parameters to match your GPU).

but you'll quickly notice that it's not even close to matching the quality of output, thought and reflecting that you'd get from running the same model but significantly high parameter count on a GPU capable of providing over 128gb of actual vram.

There isn't anything available locally that will let me load a 128gb model and provide anything above 150tps

The only thing that local ai model makes sense for right now seems to be Home Assistant in order to replace your google home/alexis.

happy to be proven wrong, but the effort to reward just isn't there for local ai.

airtonix··on Show HN: QuickTunes: Apple Music player for Mac with iPod vibes
I think it was when DHH announced he no longer uses a mac.

All these silicon valley apple cargo cultists are still in shock of the heresy.

Any alternatives that aren't consumer hostile?

Should we just be pushing harder for "Works with Homeassistant" certification?

airtonix··on Flaw has Microsoft Authenticator overwriting MFA accounts, locking users out
thank god it returns error codes.

i hate apis that only return strings meant for UI display only.

airtonix··on Stop Microsoft users sending 'reactions' to email by adding a postfix header
On second thoughts (looks at Camelot), let's not go there. It's a silly place.
airtonix··on Show HN: Horizon – Private alternative to Imgur
you should protect yourself from free plans going viral and costing you more than you'd like with rate limiting rules of some kind.
airtonix··on Git-cliff – Generate changelog from the Git history
spent 3 years on a team hoping they would step up a write meaningful changeset titles...

however. ended up just getting:

- fixed things. - creates new feature x - fixed broken thing.

instead of something that's appreciable by non technical people:

- when navigating to the nuclear launch code dashboard, a user is no longer mocked for having a likeness to <current unpopular person>.

point here is. if your team didn't write good squash merged PR titles before, they won't magically start doing so because you're using changesets.

airtonix··on Show HN: RemoteStorage – sync localStorage across devices and browsers
how is this different from remotestorage.io ?
airtonix··on Conditional Git Configuration
meh.

it's much easier to have a conditional git config in ~/.gitconfig that modifies the git ssh command to explicitly use a different ssh key.

airtonix··on Netbirdio/netbird: Connect devices into a single private WireGuard mesh network
believe it when we see it.

airtonix··on Git-sim: Visually simulate Git operations in your own repos
why are you rebasing a branch that has tags?

in my opinion (the one where i don't care what anyone else thinks kind) you shouldn't be using tags on your working branches and your mainline/release branches should only be the ones where tags exists.

This then means that the only place you should be rebasing is your working/feature/pr branches and that when you merge your working/feature/pr branch, it should get squashed into the target branch... No one cares about your fifty gazillion 'wip' commits.

airtonix··on Adversarial Collaboration
But it's not really higher learning is it?

As the parent indicated, they're not willing to even communicate with people who don't parrot their own ideas.

I wouldn't call this commit you speak of as something that makes me think "yeah, they're still fixing stuff"

https://github.com/codedgar/Puppertino/commit/b0148279d453db...

this commit is just fluff.
