airstrike··on Astra for Law
> One big thing was the overly excessive protective clauses which didn't make sense for reality or conflicted with another.

I'm currently negotiating with someone who I feel is clearly using AI and this is EXACTLY what has been happening

FWIW I use aerospace and break up those 22 windows into ~4-6 windows with ~3-5 tabs each, then move each window to a different virtual workspace that I switch to with option + hotkey like opt+1, opt+2, opt+3 or even opt+D and so on

In my case and experience, yes.

Those comparisons are pretty irrelevant

You can't compare banning football to banning genetic experiments and say "they are both bans and therefore directly comparable"

Same, but I'm back to just Claude Code and the occasional vscode, though for my latest project I switched to Astra instead

Without the humans, no tool would ever have done it.

They're a very large organization with engineers of widely varying skills in projects with very different timelines.

I get what you mean, but it's really hard for any organization this size to drive consistent quality across the board.

airstrike··on What will our economic future look like?
Exactly. Bloomberg reports students who use AI perform worse

Well said. Exactly.
airstrike··on Paramount Caught Using 'Astroturf' Group to Drum Up Fake Support for Merger
The part where debt service is the reason for layoffs. Cost synergies exist even in deals financed with zero debt.
airstrike··on Paramount Caught Using 'Astroturf' Group to Drum Up Fake Support for Merger
I'm telling you from my experience having done 25 M&A transactions worth many billion dollars.

These cost synergies exist and are a major driver behind deals, though not the only driver.

airstrike··on Paramount Caught Using 'Astroturf' Group to Drum Up Fake Support for Merger
> In reality, mergers like this — particularly when involving Warner Brothers — have a long history of resulting in mass layoffs, higher prices, and lower-quality product as the merged company tries to pay down debt from the deal.

This is wrong. There are mass layoffs because you don't need 2 HR departments, 2 Accounting departments, and so on. You can often do away with lots of sales & marketing too, in some industries.

These are called "cost synergies" in M&A, and are basically the only synergies someone will give you credit for in a deal.

Debt financing is not required for there to be cost synergies.

airstrike··on Among European Companies That Use a CDN, Nearly 9 in 10 Use Cloudflare
Cloudflare can also be managed by Claude Code or Codex, so for those instances in which you will personally have to go into the console to make edits, Cloudflare is still easier.
airstrike··on LibreOffice breaks download records after declaring it has no AI features
Both Codex and Claude (on the web) use LibreOffice to edit docs, so not sure you can really conclude it broke download records because end users didn't want AI in Office and went with LibreOffice instead

No, I'm not disagreeing based on vibes. I'm disagreeing based on my deep understanding of business and economics.

You're assuming you already know what my objections are and defending against them, when I haven't even said anything specific. Now _that_ is anti-intellectual.

The research isn't clear. It's near impossible to model the effect of UBI on the population at large by running a study with N people who know they're going back to normal at the end of the study.

Many have attempted to "give people money" before. It has invariably failed and resulted in inflation.

airstrike··on Bill Gates tries to install MovieMaker (2003)
"Share" really means send to someone else

"Export" means "save this working file in one of many formats, including possibly other formats that are first-class in third-party apps but not this app"

airstrike··on bzip3
Feels pretty odd to take something named foo2 and claim foo3 on top of it.
airstrike··on De-Brainrot Vacations
I'm sorry but just because I disagree with cash payment UBI doesn't mean I'm not anti-intellectual.

Surely that much ought to be clear if you give it a little more thought, no pun intended.

airstrike··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
Interestingly, in Brazil and I'm sure in some other legislations, those contracts are essentially void because there's a presumption the average person does not have the time, patience, or ability to understand every clause—so they are by definition unable to agree to their terms.

I'd love to have a similar standard applied in the US but I'm not holding my breath.

airstrike··on An Alien Mind
Absolute wild amounts of glaze and hype in this thread.

Maybe in contention for the site record.

"AGI next year" actual stochastic parrots.

airstrike··on Space industry lacks workers needed to rebuild satellites lost in war: report
At most, markets can show whether they are financially worthwhile.

The market doesn't have agency. It's a projection of people's preferences.

I think reality says otherwise. People do use spreadsheets effectively, if perhaps not efficiently, every single day.

The brittle nature of spreadsheets is also its most powerful feature.
