aiisjustanif··on Trillions spent and big software projects are still failing
The UK Gov has many service and process docs [1]. It started out that way but has grown rapidly and changed. Including a library for authentication, frontend templates and libraries, custom docker images.

aiisjustanif··on Brexit reduced UK GDP by 6-8%, investments by 12-18% [pdf]
> there was no impact on the UK from leaving. No negative impact on GDP, no negative impact on trade with the EU, no change to academic funding

I think that is a bit disingenuous

- Good exports are down significantly and exponentially while services exported are up significantly [1]. This has a massive impact on agriculture, fishing as well but it is its own can of worms historically.

- Migration between EU continues to drop and the promise that free movement would continue is not true [2]. There is a stagnation and decline in speciality medical jobs in the UK post Brexit [4] and a significant decrease in investment forecast and outrun [5]. These both have led to less than projected increases UK job numbers.

- The UK is now paying the EU £6.4bn a year for no benefit [3]

So when is the last time you voted for a president, if ever depending on your age?

Are you saying that if enough people do not vote that our government will dissolve?

Just to be clear political violence is a broad umbrella of many actions, including violent protest and political assassinations. One can be more of an issue than the other. Personally, in my opinion it’s hard to political violence as a whole is an “issue” when looking from a historically context. However, I do think that political assassination specifically is something that has been an issue historically.
aiisjustanif··on Steam, Itch.io are pulling ‘porn’ games. Critics say it's a slippery slope
CVS and Walgreens in the USA sell adult toys.

Bookstores have adult book with images and kids books.

Walmart also sells some adult toys, lubricant, and condoms. They also sell magazines with nudity.

ESPN did The Body Issue magazine in stores for a decade [1]

If a kid has access to steam, do they not have access to the internet? If you are parental blocking the internet, then why not steam?

Depending on the subject and writing methods it’s still not this straight forward. Regardless GPTs are hard to detect. Here are some examples.

- If it is an English class and you have to write about a personal experience, that would still take a lot of prompting.

- Other courses in psychology, political science, and journalism can pull from events too recent for writing subjects.

- Writing essays by hand in a tests setting or just as an exercise can solve two things. Now you would know a students writing style for the future and write without a computer.

- Using Google Docs to analyze revision history, not perfect by any means but helpful.

aiisjustanif··on Nobody has a personality anymore: we are products with labels
> Raising to a higher consiousness would be an actual, good solution, but that takes time.

Time as in evolution?

aiisjustanif··on Nobody has a personality anymore: we are products with labels
This came to mind for me as well, if anything I think “Measuring The Marigolds” is in slight opposition to the article and supplements it.

When the article got to using a pros-cons list for having kids, that’s where I found the "put away your calculator and enjoy the beautiful sunrise" moment. You can systematically think about things and still have a personality especially for something as important as having a child. :)

I think a lot of this boils down to that not everything is black and white in life and it sucks to think that way, like assigning labels and using therapy speak this way. Which I very much agree with the original article on.

aiisjustanif··on Apple restricts Pebble from being awesome with iPhones
I have never had an issue with WiFi drivers as an Arch and EndeavourOS user for 6 years now. And for the last 3 years my Framework Laptop does just work as my daily driver.

I think it is unjust to share strong opinions about previous issues that Linux distributions had without recent evidence.

aiisjustanif··on How I ship projects at big tech companies
I’m still not seeing your ethical problem for MAJORITY of software deliverables. You literally cannot always deliver things to make customers happy in software and if you aren’t in agreement with your leadership and product teams of what you deliver you are going to have a bad time.

Companies from startups to large enterprises deliver solutions that 0 to some customers use that was mainly to appease whatever vision your leadership has. AI chatbots in websites are a big one that I can think of.

aiisjustanif··on Trump wins presidency for second time
What does that have to do with the original point that they don’t care about working class people if all of those monumental acts still exist and help working class people.

I can state the Infrastructure bill and the CHIPS act from the last 2 years giving more job opportunities.

aiisjustanif··on Trump wins presidency for second time
That’s not the point, the point was that democrats don’t care about blue collar or the working class and they obviously take actions to show that.
aiisjustanif··on Trump wins presidency for second time
That is contrarian to democrats giving more support historically unions and putting laws in place to raise the wealth and social support of lower income citizens. Think of Medicare in 1965, Social Security and the National Labor Relations Act in 1935, and the Low-Income Housing Preservation and Residential Homeownership Act of 1990
