This trend will hopefully give rise to the linux of hardware, with opensourced IP that anyone can improve upon, and in a lot of ways it could be better than any one company's product, but this is still distant (because it takes a small nations GDP to make a chip that is a commercial success)......
per my knowledge, ads would be a part of generalized groups whose membership runs in at least a few thousands, it won't be a part of personal interactions, moreover they would be monetizing with some premium stuff i.e paid model which would include some exclusive stickers and the like...
