aghilmort··on Can gzip be a language model?
zip2zip paper by Geng et al. also exploited LZ/LZW and made the rounds a while back; novel approach that uses zip content as output compression adapter

aghilmort··on In Search of a Compositional Theory of Self-Stabilization
yes, post bit challenging to follow, too metamotif for immediate practical use. proximate notion of phase-locked loops (PLL) to measure & calibrate machines more accessible & familiar motif. emerging work to mimic control theory phase lock in metamaterials, information theory, etc. bleeding edge of transfer use cases of these same PLL/control principles. also key for AI alignment.

good writeup
aghilmort··on Introducing System One Models and Jev
was wondering same
aghilmort··on I have a theory that software drives people insane
ya, almost every app is over-opinionated on design and only getting worse not better in most case, iOS 26 is perhaps the most egregious mass-market example

thinking to this day afaik still can't change width of first column on Monday.com even tho they claim to replace spreadsheets and only js console will fix

or Trello going the opposite direction of former CTO when any page specifically had sub-second load target. now many seconds, that insane auto markdown editor showing up on almost all input boxes except HN that can't disable no chatgpt i dont want automated bullets i wanted plaintext so can c/p etc.

very cool! can we also just oultine trace / approx as hints on input image (or feed it two images, say raw and markup image with whatever visual hints use?
aghilmort··on Silicon Valley is transforming the military-industrial complex?
heh upvoted, came here to note same; the continuous net gain of defense R&D
aghilmort··on Show HN: Art – draw one stroke, let symmetry complete it
lots of fun! like etch-a-sketch, lite-brite, spirograph, paint, etc. on steroids!!
aghilmort··on Show HN: What if the speed of light was 5 km/h?
this is really great
aghilmort··on Any Human Ever – One life, drawn at random from all who have ever lived
damn, well done

og/goat demo of synthetic data gen

only nit is 'draw' button often below the fold

aghilmort··on “I just chose words carefully”
interesting approach to tune models for readable text in monospace CLI terminals where basically +/- tune for this does or doesn't meet some fixed width view

could probably do view LoRA at some reasonable level likely also applications for time-series prediction, ARC-like or other puzzle solving, etc. especially if got into fixed height along with fixed width, terminal readable --more-- with good pagination paragraph separation, etc.

QWEN-40-char-terminal DiffusionGemma-80-char etc.

s-tier info / thanks for posting!
aghilmort··on Claude Session URL appended to commit messages and PR descriptions by default
we've started using parallel repos in diff ways for this reason depending on repo purpose, scope etc.

full private repo including session transcripts, etc. agent attribution etc, with public repo that only shows selected subset without sessions ids, some or all agents, etc.

alternatively, we sometimes also do a separate chat only repo or server etc if cross-team agent chat access worth it and don't bother with private / public just disable agents in code repo

have also done some other variants etc. bit of pain to init config, does help with reducing the agent clutter, improve chat security boundaries in case any keys or sensitive env were in any chats if PII / sensitive data checker miss etc.

gotta wonder if any inspired by Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's 12, Ocean's 13

really incredible work! great use case, impeccable learning strategy, congrats!
aghilmort··on libexpat now funded by the City of Munich for up to 6 months
this is great! xmlppm was big part of xml study which did years ago and which uses expat for parsing xml; was first fond memory of expat / keep up great work
aghilmort··on Autoregressive Language Model on the 6502 Processor
really great work
aghilmort··on State of multi-player Wayland
one interesting use case is surface management in ways that cant be solved easily by swapping desktops or which is clunky this happens most on single-screen where have to swap apps out that have related actions and want to rearrange or copy paste between or scroll sync and native app so cant scroll sync by extension think rapid fire macro mouse events except not just serial which can run the experience eg browser tab and electrion app that sync scroll or scroll c/p and where macro recorder might come close but not really
aghilmort··on Claude Chat Container
nice work
aghilmort··on Transcribe.cpp
fully local transcribe.cpp in your browser at https://mic.sloop.ai/

github repo soon, finalizing ggml / emscripten magic <> simd, pthreads, etc.

parakeet for now, adding models, webgpu, wasi server, & electron for native

aghilmort··on Open-weight AI is having its Kubernetes moment
LTS is really useful framing even if increasingly distilled or slower on older hardware etc vs disappearing model acts
aghilmort··on The Silurian Hypothesis (2020)
Time Machine movie reboot did this in opposite direction into future decently well

dude wind hundreds of thousands of years into future, sands of time, etc. modulo two warring biological descendants of humans not full diff species tho

aghilmort··on Stolen Buttons
this is really great like collecting bottle caps except is buttons
aghilmort··on Transcribe.cpp
audio.cpp @ github repo has good collection of TTS models
aghilmort··on Transcribe.cpp
wip <> WASM-tested baseline models yesterday / doing webgpu binds

required pinned ggml patch & OMP,SIMD,etc. tweaks to make all models efficient, this work meshes well with other builds been doing with all-way sherpa onnx etc.

aghilmort··on Text art tools
super cool roster! niche text generators come to mind, e.g., text version of regex train tracks / git traces come to mind. png/svg version https://regexper.com/#%5Cd%7B5%7D%28-%5Cd%7B4%7D%29%3F idk if any robust ascii lib exists, same for things like root cause or swimlanes etc.

have done some 1-off 1-shots of similar for AI input/output is primary frame of reference, and plenty of others have attempted same to varying success / nice to see ASCII graphics get some new life in them

aghilmort··on Show HN: Pinch-to-zoom tree navigation
interesting. tried it on iPhone SE. hard to do safari keeps thinking want to exit page. sliding one touch left right or u/d both might be good alt? certainly better than trad click exactly here on this little folder dart
aghilmort··on Midjourney Medical
one nice thing may be way to enhance penetrative ultrasound eg smaller immersive ultrasound tomography in smaller dip tank hey stick your leg in this thinner immersive tunnel , e.g., extremity up-close immersion or trunk wrappers vs just wand-based?
aghilmort··on Midjourney Medical
we can do tomography on any round-robin-rectify multi-pov source, doesn't have to be x-ray is just de facto use in medicine, closer to at min marketing ed problem
