aflagatopamoon··on HoweyCoins – An educational tool to alert investors to possible fraud
That's like putting up a flyer about the danger of knives in a juvenile detention center, paid for with tax money, under the hopelessly naive banner of "re-educating problem youth".

Couldn't find those stock images anywhere else. Some names are unique enough to be mistaken for someone legit.

The site was announced today. The whitepaper was created on 2018-04-11 and the site was registered on 2018-03-08. So they probably spend a few months and 10k's $ on this scam project.

This project only works "PR"-wise, because it is posted on social media. No unsuspecting investor is going to happen upon on this site and change his/her behavior and be "educated". That's a deluded pipe dream by out-of-touch no-coin government employees.

This is 1990's Microsoft level of lame.

aflagatopamoon··on NSA collected 500M U.S. call records in 2017, a sharp rise: official report
You need a brutish thug in your tribe/gang/Pantheon which you can count on to do dirty jobs. That's why the connection between organized crime and intelligence agencies has always been solid.

Too much oversight/rule-pushing muzzles the potential of these guard dogs to act or intimidate. If you don't have these thugs in your gang, then other gangs that include them can take advantage of you. They are protecting the interests of the Gang-leader. They are not there to help old ladies cross the WWW. They are there to wiretap entire countries to capture contract fraud before it can damage the US economy (which impacts the average citizen). They capture gang infiltrators before they can do too much damage to the defensive and offensive capabilities of the gang. They make infrastructure to annihilate the communication capabilities of other gangs, should this need arise.

A gang without rule-skirting all-seeing thugs, Tricksters, and Peeping Toms will not stay on top.

This is called a pepper:

If you read the article above, you'll see that you still need a salt, since users with very simple passwords will have the same hash: crack one, and you can crack the others for free.

aflagatopamoon··on Ask HN: Anyone making money through algorithmic trading?
~0.1% lending bot, ~12% scalping bot, ~7800% algo-assisted technical trading.

The luck was that when you took a BTC profit on alts, BTC would have 5x in the mean time, so you 5x your profits. And even if you made a loss on alts, you'd still break even dollar-wise.

aflagatopamoon··on Ask HN: Anyone making money through algorithmic trading?
Yes, made more money last year trading, than for all my previous jobs combined. Probably got lucky by betting big in an up-trending market, but I'll take it.

I use an automated inter-day scalping bot and a collection of scripts to help with manual longer-term technical trading or jumping into a P&D for quick profits.

Generating alpha was easier for me than setting everything up. I did not use any complicated model or strategy.

I suppose it will get more difficult, if not impossible, once the big boys jump in, but right now it is a market for makers.
