Self driving cars exist and are safer than human drivers, Waymo being the obvious answer - https://waymo.com/research/do-autonomous-vehicles-outperform.... Replacement is a matter of large scale deployment and coordination with legal frameworks, which isn’t the same problem as self driving cars.
