aennassiri··on ChatGPT Pro 500
Pricing decisions are important; you can't just remove half the usage for PRO200 just because you don't have the hardware resources to manage all of the workload.

I've been paying for the PRO200 plan since day one, and I've never used it that much because Claude Code was and still is better at coding. I didn't even complain when they started nerfing their models.

I love OpenAI, but they should do better on such important decisions, knowing that all other companies are waiting for such missteps.

aennassiri··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
You remind me of a new research article on how dumb the new social media make us
aennassiri··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Totally aligned ! As a European, I was never into this US bashing. I looked up to the Americans in the same way the french did back in the 19th century when they gifted them statue of liberty
aennassiri··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Europe is still great.
aennassiri··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Living in France, trying to do my part here. I love the US as well and their spirit of freedom and innovation should be an example to follow
aennassiri··on ASML currently sells no chipmaking machines in Europe, executive says
Yes definitely, this is why I see the shift with AI as an opportunity to push forward new companies. EU needs to put the focus on hardware where it did have a competitive advantage few years ago (still have on B2B hardware)
aennassiri··on ASML currently sells no chipmaking machines in Europe, executive says
Interesting! I would split regulation in two different types though. The fist one is merely the output of bureaucracy and good intentions and a second that is targeting US tech companies as EU can't compete.
aennassiri··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Yes indeed ! What is important is that the same people/generation who witnessed the atrocities of war and resented each other decided to create a union
aennassiri··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
I'm fed up with the regular euro bashing. People are underestimating what EU countries can do. The whole history was similar. France, for example, was neither the first to build high-end luxury products nor was it the first to embrace the Industrial Revolution. It managed to catch up in any case.

EU countries went from killing each other in two of the most deadly wars to having a union in 30 years.

I wish that the EU did the same as China did years ago, and that is to block any non-EU tech company from entering the market. We could have had the Google/Meta equivalent years ago.

Let's see how much they benchmaxxed their model!
aennassiri··on AI 'kill switch' may need to be mandatory, Anthropic co-founder tells BBC
Not sure if you see it coming: oh, but open-source models don't have a kill switch, so we should completely regulate them, stop their development, and forbid them. Everything should go through Anthropic for the sake of humanity because they have a red-button kill switch.

This doom hype is becoming ridiculous.

aennassiri··on EuroBirdPortal – Live bird movements across Europe
Indeed! I wasn't even able to change the bird easily. I like the initiative, though. I remember the whole bird migration from Africa to Europe and how it shapes the skies in autumn and spring.
aennassiri··on What if this is why humanity goes extinct?
AI doesn't need to want to take over. Give it autonomy; reading that it will is probably enough.
aennassiri··on Mathematicians want proof OpenAI didn't use their work
If OpenAI remained a full nonprofit looking to build an "OPEN" AI for the benefit of all humanity (not only the US or a few shareholders), I would have been happy to share my code, my work, and even label their data... This said, I don't blame them. It's a difficult mission to remain a nonprofit and, at the same time, have the required capital investment to build AGI.

I'm not criticizing them, but I hope this race towards the first-best result or AGI doesn't blind them to making good decisions such as not using their users' data without consent.

aennassiri··on What will our economic future look like?
It's funny that this is missing the negative effects or the possibility of an economic crisis scenario. Many data centers are being built by companies that won't exist in a few years, as the winner will take all. This is why XAI is already renting compute to Anthropic. This goes as well without saying that in few years, compute pricing will drop heavily.

Another effect is increased inequality in the US and other Western countries as software/AI/hardware companies are able to do more with less.

The increase in manual labor wages is not systemic. It affects only the labor used to build data centers.

aennassiri··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
My view of Meta changed positively when they started supporting the open-source LLM community again.
aennassiri··on PISA 2025 Students' reading and mathematics performance declined across the OECD
Thanks Aerroon for sharing ! Banning social media is indeed an experiment and we don't know yet how efficient it will be.
aennassiri··on PISA 2025 Students' reading and mathematics performance declined across the OECD
This is alarming.

I believe it is probably a combination of several factors:

- Social media and doomscrolling without sufficient parental controls: Several OECD countries are already addressing this by introducing or considering restrictions on teenagers’ access to social media.

- App UX/UI: Many apps are designed to compete for our attention, which can gradually reduce our ability to sustain focus.

- LLMs: The impact of AI is more recent and still needs to be properly assessed. However, LLMs could significantly affect attention and critical thinking for both adults and children, especially as we increasingly delegate parts of our thinking to AI models.

- Changes in the education system: In France, for example, mathematics was removed as a mandatory subject for some high-school tracks for a period of time. In my view, that was a major mistake.

- COVID-19: Many students experienced significant gaps in their education during the pandemic, with the effects often being more pronounced among students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

aennassiri··on GPT-6 Astra
I firmly believed OpenAI would take back the lead. It's healthy to have competition with Anthropic and, hopefully, other LLM providers. I'm excited to test their model. Their attitude towards developers/builders has been nice and appreciated for the last couple of months.
aennassiri··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
You tend to take a rather aggressive approach when commenting in here.
aennassiri··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
To be more concrete, the last two examples were that Fable added every time a function called utcnow in newly added Python modules, and it always ended up adding constants. I'm saying it takes a lot of effort to make sure Fable or other frontier models don't produce such marginal slop and to keep things concise.
aennassiri··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
What are your arguments then ? What are your thoughts ? I use fable everyday and it is always coming up with changes on thousands of files for simple things, overall the code does the job but there is always marginal slop or unnecessary code to be addressed.
aennassiri··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
We will have more bugs. Even the best models with the best software engineers will produce bugs. There are two reasons : first the pressure to produce more and second LLMs will always produce slop
