adziki··on Corporate Ethical Leadership App (download me, and/or review our app)
My company has been working on ethical leadership training, and has released an app for Android, iPhone and Blackberry which is a quick reference handbook for ethical climate setting. Even if you don't download the app, we'd love to get your feedback on the app descriptions, and any questions you have about what it offers. iPhone: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/climate/id437880907?mt=8&... adziki··on One month with Android
I'm in this same boat. I think that people's opinions on this probably also tend to be biased by what you're used to from a desktop-use background. the ugly, unpolished, clunky comments I just don't see. Any application weirdness has been with how a specific app handles certain behaviors (logins, new windows spawning, etc). Having worked through creating a few apps, I can agree that it's not the simplest thing to create apps which 100% abide by the android design principles, and having worked with people at my company trying to divert them away from the "let's brand it so it's obviously our style" view point to trying to abide by how Android apps function. that's quite a battle some times.

it's not like it makes you do calculus to operate it. "Back" goes back a page, "Home" goes home. What do you want to do, go home? hmmm

adziki··on Ask HN: Focus and concentration
I can get into spells of this as well. What I try to do is to set high level goals (maybe 1-6 months out), break those goals down, and break those goals down, and really scope out the big things into a lot of small things. Only look at a day or week's worth of small things at a time (to not get overloaded in the quantity of small tasks). Set milestones at which you can assess your perfection, and if its not to your standards, revise your goals.
adziki··on Ask HN: Best way to write an app for both Android and iOS?
I'm in the middle of trying to solve this challenge at work as well. I've bounced back and forth between a PhoneGap like solution, and doing it all in HTML with a web view wrapper.

The benefits of the HTML with webview are consistency, developing once, and being able to have a web app, blackberry app, webOS app as well.

However, if the app you're making needs to really leverage the functionality of the device, PhoneGap or making the device-specific logic in that native language is probably worth the extra effort (the trade off there is in efficiency of your app, and may be limited by the functionality of web pages on your mobile platforms.)

adziki··on How I lost 30 pounds in 2010. A simple guide for overweight hackers like me
I can echo a lot of this, having lost 30 pounds as well, though that was through the Ideal Protein diet. But the info about how to maintain weight after the initial fat burn portion is invaluable. Cut back carbs and sugars (it's amazing how many things have sugar...), processed grains, etc. For this diet, lots of veggies, lots of protein (un-fried).

Absolutely agree about the energeticness, focus, and confidence. Went from 215 to 180, and it's a huge difference.

Good post!

I feel like that should be a question that the customer service reps should ask: "Do you know how to distribute poor customer service via the internet?"
