It is kind of ironic though that eventually he got the Green Card via the DV lottery. Had he been fired without that, it would have been a very difficult stretch to get a job within 30 days.
I had untrained voice dialing IN GREEK for years on my Nokia 701. And it actually worked correctly!
My brand new kitkat-soon-to-be-lolipop device cannot even voice dial English names.
A big thank you for sharing that insight here.
They simply plugged in an SSD from a 2013 Mac Pro. Go figure.
I was just stressing the fact that depending on the size and distance, even sub-100ppi screen densities might be good enough.
Admittedly if you sit 20" from the screen regardless of its size you may want a slightly higher ppi.
You probably will sit half a meter (1.64ft) from a 26.5" monitor, maybe more, right?
According to isthisretina.com the density of a 26.5" 1920x1920 becomes equivalent to retina (326ppi) at about 34 inches (86cm).
Your work on porting KVM to SmartOS is amazing, I don't think this accomplishment can be easily overstated.
So why shouldn't we have a couple of extra escape sequences where the terminal could, e.g. draw an arbitrary bitmap? You are right, that would certainly require some sort of standard becoming prevalent, but why would a little extra capability (that doesn't break compatibility) be a bad thing?
See http://www.nongnu.org/ext2-doc/ext2.pdf#page15 for a slightly more detailed explanation.
"The first version of ext2 (revision 0) stores a copy at the start of every block group, along with backups of the group descriptor block(s). Because this can consume a considerable amount of space for large filesystems, later revisions can optionally reduce the number of backup copies by only putting backups in specific groups (this is the sparse superblock feature). The groups chosen are 0, 1 and powers of 3, 5 and 7."
(Edit: Yes, I know that 3^0=1, but the wording "0, 1 and powers of 3, 5" does not imply 3^0. Thanks!)
In the (European) country that I live in, you can actually buy an Apple TV. Whereas Chromecast simply does not exist.
One can argue all day about how awesome Chromecast is, but if you can't buy it, well, it isn't really competitive. And this has happened with a lot of other Google products which where announced with great fanfare in the past.
Off-topic, I tried to buy a 1-dollar song the other day. This may come as a surprise, but not only Google, but also Amazon were not willing to take my money. Of course iTunes happily accommodated me, as it has always been doing for many years.
I don't know whether this type of industry can be called mature, but it was the fastest growing sector of the economy in the US for this year, if I'm not mistaken. A quick google search yields e.g. http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/smart-takes/top-10-fastest-g...
On the question of whether it will shake things up, there sure is some turmoil. Watson/Actavis has been on buying spree for like 2 years now. Besides minor players here and there (e.g. Specifar in Greece), they acquired the Actavis group and now they acquired Warner Chilcott. They were (I think) 5th and in a relatively small period they ended up being the 3rd largest generic drug company worldwide.

I prefer to map it to esc-p which coincides with the setting in tcsh. Like that:
"\M-p": history-search-backward
So you basically type something and then press esc p to have the shell complete it.
I've had great luck with xmarks, which correctly syncs the tags. But I'd like to know that there is always an alternative for a feature that I've come to depend so much on.
