I hope this gives a rise to a whole set of new decentralized communities (or just smaller niche sites). I'm done using or contributing to reddit.
I'd rather give them the option if possible.
So excited to have all that time back to be honest.
I've been on the AR/VR hype train for a long time and have had many different headsets over the years. Apple Vision Pro seems like it puts all of them to shame. And if Apple can execute on this, no doubt, it'll become a household staple. And this is Gen 1. Price will come down. Apple has to get the experience right though. And so far it looks promising.
I think schools will need to change the way they go about testing student understanding of topics. Personally I'm excited for what this might look like and it is a great opportunity for hackers to really innovate the educational field.
That waiting turned into more and more beloved products being shut down, drastically changed to shell versions of themselves, or left to stagnate, while google continued to randomly launch, acquire, shut down other beloved brands.
I wouldn't say there was a definitive final straw. It was more of a death by a thousand cuts. Everything getting shittier and worse over time. Pixel phones originally were great, but I really wanted a great 1st party watch. Pixel Watch finally came out and it was lightyears behind the Apple Watch.
Software integration wise across the entire ecosystem as well. Google has been promising it, but Apple seems to have actually delivered it.
The Nest stuff hurts though. I've invested well over $3k in various Nest devices over the years, and to see what Google has done to the ecosystem is a shame.
I currently have a Sony one with Android TV that I bought in 2017 and software wise it's unusable. I have Apple TV setup for all the media apps and that works well enough though.
For the record I used to be a huge Google fan. Had many of the Pixel phones, had Nest cameras, doorbells, nest secure, nest protects, multiple TV's running Android TV, Stadia (lol), and more.
From a financial perspective, you'll almost always come out on top financing and keeping the car long term. Usually if you finance 5-6 years, and maintain the car, you can easily get another 5-6 years out of the car without too many issues and no payments. And then you have a bit of equity to put towards your next one when the time comes.
I've leased and financed in the past, but some of the lease deals I got were really really good and made sense at the time.
A regular govt worker receiving a $25 gift card has to report it or could be fired, but once you get to Supreme Court, you can do whatever you want.
