It's a real story of Semco with great business lessons.
I don't think I've posted a job posting. I'm still being very broad in description. But I'm looking for a co-founder who is more experienced in backend technologies. I'm not looking for passionate startup person who is great in design, and have no experience in backend. I'm trying to compensate my skills.
About what the company is aiming to do - I can't write all the details openly and with everybody. My approach is to discuss the details with the right set of people - on one and one basis. Once someone shows any interest, then I'll discuss the details with him.
I'm currently working on a social shopping startup - Shopialize. Shopialize is a Founder Institute (http://founderinstitute.com) incubated company. Currently I'm the only founder and developer at Shopialize. I'm actively developing the product and hoping to launch beta by October.
I'm seeking a bay-area based talented and passionate backend developer to join me as a Co-Founder to build this innovative and valuable product which will help consumers to discover great products and save money when they buy products.
Responsibilities: As a technical Co-Founder, you'll be primarily responsible for scalable software architecture and backend technology. You need to have experience in data-mining, information retrieval, and search engine technologies. It'll be great if you have experience in semantic web and machine learning as well.
I'm proficient in PHP and MySQL technologies, but if you convince me that we need to use other technologies, then I'm open to listen and change if it makes sense.
Compensation: It will be generous co-founder equity. If you want cash as well, then we can discuss cash+equity model as well. But Shopialize is currently in a pre-financing stage, so cash will be reasonable. To start with, you can start working with me in the part-time with minimum time commitment of 20 hours per week. When the company secures financing, you can expect a salary that will rise over time as revenue grows. It will then require a full-time commitment.
Contact: If you are interested, then please write to me aditya.kothadiya at gmail.com. You can send me your resume, or link of exciting projects you've done. We can meetup locally and then discuss the details in person.
To learn more about me, my recent project was http://tweeght.com and my blog is http://adityakothadiya.com

2. Cleaner stream
3. And other most imp. part - data-mining about finding which activity is retweeted most number of times and discovering popular tweets.
Basically you need a reason to wake up in the morning. If we don't have reason, then even if alarm rings, we snooze it and procrastinate waking up at the decided time.
Do all brainstorming, planning, HN/news/blogs reading in the night. And decide a clear action plan for the morning.
2. Sleep early. One of my advisers sleeps at 10-10:30 in the night, and wakes up at 4am. I tried following same pattern, and it worked flawlessly. I used to get solid work done in 4am-8am before I go to my day job.
About bold-faced font, ok, voice heard, and I'll make necessary changes.
Also, I'm not trying to build another social shopping network. I'm looking more towards Twitter+FriendFeed integration. Twitter may-not provide better shopping related feature-set. Similarly, FriendFeed may not add all social-shopping services like Kaboodle, ThisNext, Kirtsy, etc., which I'm planning to add soon.
These are primary reasons. Hope this answers your question.
I'm not explaining what, why, and how aspects of this web-application here because I want to see how much of it is clear from the website itself. So please visit http://shopialize.com, explore different pages and let me know what's your first impression.
I understand that there are many social components that need to be developed for the viral distribution of this application like Facebook, OpenSocial and iPhone apps. But first I wanted to release the core idea and learn what exactly people want, so that I can continue building this application from their feedback.
Believe me, this is just the beginning - so please - pour in your thoughts and ideas about how you want to improve the social shopping experience on the web. You can also email me at aditya@shopialize.com.
Thanks, Aditya
Also, I will suggest don't focus on a single launch day. Think every day is a launch day. First launch on forums like HN, then get some feedback, then launch on few mid-size blogs, see if they cover it, see if you can handle traffic, then again launch on bigger blogs, and then keep launching to every single person you meet on each and every day. Once you are ready, every single day is a launch day.
But for the rest of us, it's good to check good tweets voted by other users just few times in a day. That's the purpose of Tweeght - to learn from these insightful tweets. Hope it is clear now.
1. For this suggestion, I'll need your Twitter login details. Who you are on Twitter. But right now there is negative mindset about giving Twitter account details. So I started with minimal requirements on user side.
