adithyassekhar··on GamersNexus and LG: Or why rooting your TV is a bad idea
I think the author took the wrong message from the video.

His arguments are all

- yes everyone does this not just lg; :)

- yes it can be used to track the user; but unless you literally go into lg ads hq, you can’t say they don’t

- they rooted to trigger this; well the os and system apps don’t need root, we need it to observe.

If the author is here please consider these as the reasons to why an LG customer would be mad.

- They did not knew LG has an ads subsidiary, whose CEOs and executives constantly go on investor meetings claiming “they own the glass”, “they own the living room”, “they own the network and devices” in the “lg household”

- if the above was said by lg tv division it would have still stung less. This was said by an ad company they didn’t knew existed nor did they agree to be associated with when they bought a home appliance.

Stop focusing on the technical details, look at the larger picture.

> They also found where the microphone was software disabled via settings, it was STILL recording things but had the dB level so low that it looked like nothing but when amplified to +50dB later the conversations were actually still there.

adithyassekhar··on GitHub Outage Tracker: Is GitHub Cooked?
I’ve noticed there is 5000 api call limit on gh cli. Haven’t looked at whether it was already there or when does it reset etc. good for them finally if they weren’t already doing that.
adithyassekhar··on Anthropic appears to be A/B testing reduced effort levels in Claude Code
Does anyone know what setting effort means for models like these? Do they allow longer thinking sessions? Some kind of system prompts? What’s stopping someone from getting max effort output from low effort setting?
adithyassekhar··on Why aren't smart people happier? (2022)
It’s quite telling how most of us have had the same experience, proud of being able to ace without the effort, the smart but lazy comments, all ended up here on the same website.

I just don’t know what it is telling but it’s telling something.

adithyassekhar··on OpenRouter is joining Stripe
Route your LLM requests through the Stripe AI Gateway with an API call. Provide your prompt, model, and Customer ID, and Stripe:

1.Routes the request to the appropriate provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google).

2. Returns the model’s response to your application.

3. Records token usage for billing automatically.

4. Rejects requests when a customer has no credit left (when enabled for your account).

Does that mean all api calls to providers go through stripe?

Reading the justification for how much of a perfect partner stripe is for openrouter sounded made up, this makes it even better.

adithyassekhar··on Ask HN: GitHub employees what's going on? Why?
Didn’t knew they did that.
adithyassekhar··on Born Against, or why hobby programming communities are against LLM usage
This site is an example why I am against dark mode.
adithyassekhar··on How Hollywood stopped making movies in Hollywood
I don’t think I have seen anyone wanting to be an actor because it’ll make them rich. It’s comes with the job and they are aware of it but that won’t be the motivation.
adithyassekhar··on The AI Productivity Gap
I don’t think human review is worth it for LLM generated code. We design abstractions and all around how humans think. LLMs writes code that is better understood by machines. If you are all in on LLMs, by all means, read the code figure out what it means. But trying to enforce a human flow to its logic is flawed and will be overwritten the next time.

It took a while to render when I clicked the Differences from React button on an iphone 17.
adithyassekhar··on Karpathy’s Pelican
It’s a dark pattern of the platform honestly.

I can’t find a single free app even for a tiny utility without being forced into a yearly subscription with 7 days free trial. One of the many things I regret switch from android for.

Since the democratic of iphone users are mostly tech averse people I can assure you most of that are forgotten subscriptions.

I had a weird relationship with the first game.

The final scene of TP1; the one where they show the rising sun over a hill, that felt so at home for me. It was the only reason I played the game, to see that scene. Something about the colors reminded me of my childhood.

Of course I could just see it on youtube or a screenshot but I wanted it to feel natural, I wanted the story and characters to take me to that hill scene. That’s all I cared about.

adithyassekhar··on Using an open model feels surprisingly good

adithyassekhar··on The new rules of context engineering for Claude 5 generation models
I agree. I’m talking more about these agents going in and breaking things. They might get some context when a test fails.
adithyassekhar··on The new rules of context engineering for Claude 5 generation models
“Code should be self documenting.” I know cliche but if your code does need to do something it usually doesn’t do or has a complex logic or an edge case where it’s no longer following it’s standard flow, add all those as test cases.

If the flow is too complex, inherits from all over the place and you must put that as a comment, ask claude to write a test for that, it’s usually good at those.

adithyassekhar··on Show HN: OneCLI – OSS credential gateway that keeps secrets out of AI agents
Holy mother of whatever this is, everyone got the same idea again and there’s a bunch of implementations people are desperate to promote in the comments.

You’re just trading one key for another, whatever abstraction you chose to trust, at some point credentials will pass to your llm of the week.

adithyassekhar··on Codeberg Bans Cryptocurrency Projects
Every open source project ends up politically opinionated because the people behind it is married to the idea of that project than what it delivers.

Commercial ones only care about what the project brings in, often money, but that often comes because of whatever value it provides the customer.

adithyassekhar··on Qwen 3.8
Unfortunately this is a US centric site, for a US based investor, who themselves and probably most commenters as well who are highly paid silicon valley people who have stakes in ai companies on their side of the pond.

Not to mention the political unrest and fear of losing the technological superiority which they once earned but now is trying so hard to hold on to through legally grey monopolistic practices. You dare not outcompete the US in any tech they can sanction.

At some point people who made genuine innovation and wanted to make the world a better and equal place were replaced with capitalists.

Wait for the downvotes.

adithyassekhar··on Ente – Opening Our Books
A lot of confusion about what services this company offers and I don’t blame them.

I am a happy user of “ente auth” ever since authy killed their desktop app. Bitwarden is too much I just need a 2fa app that is secure enough but not too annoying like remembering a 2nd factor for my 2fa app.

Only today did I remember oh they do photo backups.

Love from KL.
