adhambadr··on Flight disruption warning as Airbus requests modifications to 6k planes
Didn’t spacex fix this problem by just adding a ridiculous redundancy of components? i.e the solution might be to install more HW to parallelise ?
adhambadr··on Flight disruption warning as Airbus requests modifications to 6k planes
I don’t know what airbus uses I only looked into the schematics of commercial avionics like Garmin. I doubted though IMU drift and calibration introduce more error than they can provide in useful signal, old school pressure sensors + gps adjusted manually or automatically for regional pressure settings (pilots get these numbers through radio when they enter a new pressure area) is accurate enough (~1m). I’ll let a real avionics engineer correct me here, I’d be curious if that signal is worth the hassle + I can imagine such tiny SMD sensors ARE the biggest victims of radiation hallucination.

Yet on the flip side, if I’m trying to auto identify my own phone for a login-less private app i tried to build I couldn’t get to reliably generate a consistent fingerprint on safari private mode, it regenerates 50% of the time, I’ve tried several libraries like fingerprintjs and co..
adhambadr··on Flight disruption warning as Airbus requests modifications to 6k planes
It’s a combined signal system, using pressure based sensors + gps.
adhambadr··on Thank HN: My bootstrapped startup got acquired today
what a sweet message. Congratulations!
adhambadr··on Llama 3.1 405B now runs at 969 tokens/s on Cerebras Inference
is it just me or isn't the most important contender in speed, Groq, missing from the comparison ? not sure why does it matter to put azure there, no one uses it for speed.
adhambadr··on Calling All Hackers
Loved this. Thank you for putting it together, I could relate to it on a level you couldn’t possibly imagine.
adhambadr··on The Gervais Principle, or the Office According to “The Office” (2009)
this was an insanely entertaining and informative read that gave me (a corporate outsider) a massive learning on the psychology of these orgs. It felt like I m reading a very informative management book but using pop culture analogies I can follow, thank you so much for the time to put it and looking forward to pt2 about Jim.

Also on another note, are startup founders then in that realm sociopaths or the clueless (with the vcs then being the sopciopaths, employees the ls etc.)? asking for a friend.

adhambadr··on TTE: Terminal Text Effects
omg I'll finally look as cool as my parents think I am when I'm pinging google.com to know how bad the wifi is.
adhambadr··on How the Devteam Conquered the iPhone
fuck this was a beautiful trip down memory lane thanks for the work putting and narrating this story so well. I remember following the progress half way across the globe and doing the hardware soldering hack on my 1st-gen, then good ol'd Cydia days. Can't process how young these people were and how they knew how to do such low-level investigative coding. I remember back then I was doing .NET c# and thought i'm the boss, humbling.
adhambadr··on Why does nuclear power plant construction cost so much?
"72% of the cost increase was due to indirect costs, indicating a large increase in expensive professionals such as engineers and managers"

one of the first very tangible direct "Macro" effects of the rise of non-contributing b.s jobs (Consulting, Life Coaches, Influencers, Day Trading and everything else under the 4 hour week mantra).

I've always wondered what are the big picture scale effects if everyone is trying to retire early and live off real-estate income and here it is: we as a species regress in the single most indicator of progress: energy autonomy cause we can't afford it because our cultural narrative doesn't motivate enough people to specialize in it depriving us from clean energy production and literally destroying the earth we inhibit.

adhambadr··on Ask HN: Which books you have read till now that were worth investing time in?
omg Dancarlin is so underrated. His storytelling is insane, king of kings is definitely one of his best.
adhambadr··on Apple’s M1 Positioning Mocks the Entire x86 Business Model
Economics of scale. my bet is Apple will develop a cluster of M1s and call them M-power-2 to address the 1.5TB RAM workstation market you mentioned. It will be practically an array of M1s (or next gen) together. The way the M1 is used from iPad to iMacs is genius in terms of cost reduction at scale and for an end consumer, who doesnt care who else uses their chip, I get a good $/cpu power bargain. Tim Apple being the supply-chain guy he is, I see him doubling down and scrambling engineers to user more M1s in array to build a stronger core. Maybe an M1-based server rack for AWS?
adhambadr··on Ask HN: Are you put off building something because it already exists?
im in the Smartphone business, talk about saturated :D ! btw love your product, some of my customers have asked us about something similar perhaps we could collaborate.
adhambadr··on What It's Like to View a SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launch
wow thanks a lot for sharing. +1 on my bucket list for sure.
adhambadr··on OpenTTD Compiled to WebAssembly
no but neither TTD, the OpenTTD is a brilliant remake that is based on TTD.
adhambadr··on OpenTTD Compiled to WebAssembly
this is really cool. Can't wait for GTA2
adhambadr··on Amazon in Its Prime: Doubles Profits, Pays $0 in Federal Income Taxes
didn't know that info actually, as it's different here in Europe. I also see they had 91% in 2014 which is also interesting. Anyways wasn't really attacking them at all and also think the reason behind the 0$ is quite relevant in the discussion, yet I do strongly oppose the idea the original commenter made that amazon had been doing its fair share and square. They are doing whats best for them under what the law permits, including lobbying btw which uncertainly bends the laws to their favour. And the real debate in my opinion is, should it be possible this way ?
adhambadr··on Amazon in Its Prime: Doubles Profits, Pays $0 in Federal Income Taxes
never implied they did anything illegal. im pretty sure their numbers this year is 100% legal as well. Nor im implying they did anything wrong, they're doing whats best for them which you and I would have done. I just refute the notion its "fair" that the tax structure is quite harsh on private individuals (id go as far as claiming is dependant on private individuals) but creates the situation for corps that using clever accounting to pay a fraction of the supposed sum is considered graciously courteous.
adhambadr··on Amazon in Its Prime: Doubles Profits, Pays $0 in Federal Income Taxes
given the corp tax rate in 2011 was 35% id say hitting 600M in profit and somehow paying only 30M instead of 210M does not really count as "fair" nor regular.
adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
thanks a lot and sure I def. got your point and I think our target is different than you (you should checkout the other products like lite & punkt). The tag - minimalist was written by the OP and not us, we barely use (and stopping more often) the term minimalism esp. that closely to our brand / product. our html title is "back to the root" and our slogan is "people first" (printed on the packaging & on the back of the phone) as it better describes our mission.
adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
thanks. We're still negotiating extension price (for an extra 12) but will be < 20€. Whats the no-go in Android for you ? you'd go for a phone that can't install most apps out there ?
adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
thanks a lot everyone we definitely heard you on that one.
adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
We had to im sorry. Its quite unrealistic for a startup to write its own OS from scratch. And there's the app topic that everyone else failed at. We always had a vision to do an open web-based (Chromium like) os when it becomes realistic.
adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
appreciate the honest edit mate. We def. did something wrong on communication to give some people this perception will work on it. Let me know if you any other suggestions / questions
adhambadr··on Dumber phone
thanks a lot! yeah we have to fix that. US is pretty complicated with different bands & carrier restrictions we're focusing on EU this year.
adhambadr··on Dumber phone

adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
its a bit of hurtful truth bArray there. We did already pull back a bit on most of our SW promises and packed them inside a "beta-mode" as we realised after testing a personal driver phone is no experimenting ground. This post just beat us before we finished relaunching our website with a simpler communication strategy and a def. a better website.
adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
I guess you're right we have complete perception of minimal. I wrote somewhere else our aim was to be exactly between Flagship smartphones and complete detox options like litephone or an old refurbished nokia, I think you're more looking for those options.
adhambadr··on Blloc – minimalist smartphone
well put advice. However countless projects started the software route and never managed to go beyond step 1. We're focusing on HW atm, offering a great price point, great experience, insurance and using as much off the shelve software as possible. Offering a complete working package that just works right now. And installing the software one by one
