I do too. I went through the exact same series of thoughts (didnt realize the space foil thing you mention) and figured im already fully invested since the form was filled

there is. there is a build system. there are probably some typescript interfaces and lint checks you need to pass etc probably some other framework you need to familiarize yourself with if you are data binding etc. i'm not saying any of this is inherently bad - what im saying is 99% of the time this is overkill

sure the browser accommodates. now how about dealing with wrapping everything in unnecessary empty tags and tree shaking and bloat etc. specialized dev inspector tools for each framework etc. there are layers...

i cant count the number of times i've had to generate boilerplate + interfaces etc etc for something that would be as simple as an onclick (onClick?) handler would have done. i have yet to actualize the serious promises of this ecosystem in any meaningful way and it doesn't seem to get better. also jsx is ugly.

let me add to this -

it is a pretty cool project! and useful if one knows entirely what it is doing and not for the masses - in the same way an uncensored AI would be useful for folks entirely aware of the potential gibberish it could generate.

it is funny to play with- i searched "irrational fear of cute kittens" which i didn't expect to generate anything rational - it pointed me towards a mental disorder (ailurophobia) which after i looked up elsewhere is apparently an actual condition. on the other hand "The Existential Fear of Earthquakes Caused by Earthworms" generated an entirely fake article. i see no harm in this product for future generations.

I’m probably getting philosophical here but my personal thought is that - at the end of the day (most if not all) people/anyone/humans like to be on top of “something” rather than to be on top of “everything but nothing meaningful (to anyone else)”. reminds of this one Superman adventures episode with Bizarro (a very uncanny anti-superman) - Superman brought him to an empty desolate place (planet) to prevent him from accidentally destroying earth since in his head he “always wanted to be” superman”. bizarro had an entire planet to himself where he was god, king, law and lawyer it - he loved it. is that normal or human? hell no. He’s Bizarro. People will go elsewhere and enjoy human things like life-satisfaction, culture, family, friend networks, etc whatever else people like . life goes on.

there is a grey area. some companies will not ship you a device if you are fully remote (which i personally prefer since I'm most productive on my OS/config of choice) yet all their operations exist on google/microsoft accounts. so if you happen to login on one of these on your personal browser and go about business without thinking twice… its all logged!

same lol. if they give you a computer - use it for work! otherwise it is arguably your property and your right to do what you want regardless if they have google workspace etc. just create a separate account
