achillesheels··on Americans overestimate social mobility in their country
This is no different than historical standards of artwork. Indeed, it is from those who can afford to sustain an independent spirit, where genuine artistry extends itself into the human pursuit of perfection. When money is not an object this eternal motivation can progress itself unhindered.
achillesheels··on Ask HN: What is the ultimate meaning of life?
I would claim your definition of harmonics is anthropocentric :)

Simply being, more human agreement is the goal of Nature. The more one can promote it, the better one’s reality will be - because it is truly living. It breeds a sense of self-certainty about one’s movement which ends the originally query.

achillesheels··on Ask HN: What is the ultimate meaning of life?
I mean a self-certain integral circular motion which presupposes necessary agreement with itself (its relation to every position of its continuum of movement) and therefore has the potential for mechanical extension of its unity or "oneness" with other harmonies - in other words, positively amplified resonance.
achillesheels··on Ask HN: What is the ultimate meaning of life?
To achieve the greatest duration of positive harmonics represented anthropocentrically through harmonious works, i.e. creating the most playtime for others to progress in their own extension of the natural harmonic ordering of the universe.

This is achieved through the mastery of self-control gained during the experience of wisdom or enlightenment (the self-reliant demonstration of one's growth in knowledge). This will necessarily lead one to be considerate of the world and its harmonious ordering extending itself into human society and its inter-generational endurable record-keeping which acts as a positive feedback loop in construction higher measures of harmony (peace and balance) between ourselves, according more fun and eradicating misery.

achillesheels··on New data: What developers look for in future job opportunities
I've noticed that when I have interviewed there is quite the pause when, not even 20-25 minutes into spending time with each other, the question about salary expectations is raised, and I have to ask what are the perks and/or benefits? I am willing to be very flexible with my salary given what else is being offered in the package. It just surprises me that most people are really chasing after total compensation without any consideration of well-being.
achillesheels··on Understanding the Body Electric
Yes, please see Chapter 5 "Human Homeostasis" on page 56. It is principled on the belief that biological tissue is piezoelectrical and forms electrical motion which is patterned - please see Chapter 1 section VII "Piezoelectricity in Biological Physical Matter" page 47:

There is a preponderance of available evidence on the piezoelectric properties of biological matter. According to Chen-Glasser et al, Eiichi Fukada demonstrated piezoelectric effects in major human physiological tissue, such as in bone and muscle.[55][56] Fukada’s biological examination demonstrates the intrinsic nature of piezoelectric effects in the building blocks of cellular life: proteins. Proteins, when considered to be digital control outputs of cellular replication stability, are genome expressions of amino acids –with at least 15 demonstrating piezoelectric properties. It is the reorientation and change in dipole moments in biological macromolecules under stress that causes piezoelectricity, hypothetically as an effect of the dipolebmoments causingbelectromagnetic resonances to naturally occur.[57]

achillesheels··on Understanding the Body Electric
I'm curious why you think it is non-analogous to digital computing? I published a manuscript which diagrams the necessity for the applications of electrical engineering scientific theory to electromagnetic brain reflexes which ought to be equivalent to electronic feedback control orders which become digital, i.e. operations which are principally numerically caused.

If you're curious to read the proposition of cellular life evolving electronics please see it posted in the /r/dsp:

achillesheels··on Underrated Reasons to Be Thankful
I look at things from our universal cellular life substrate which ends up ordering ourselves to such civilized dynamics. That natural substance is still propelling ourselves, beyond contract laws - it is not up to profit motivation to end inter generational violence. If anything, there is profit motivation to keep being brutal! It requires simply the technological possibility - now becoming realized - to enlighten the human race on what is proper accordance with natural motion.
achillesheels··on Underrated Reasons to Be Thankful
That even though we evolved as ruthless replication machines, we’ve somehow risen out of the muck and we currently find ourselves running cultural software that’s way out of sync with what game theory would dictate, and perhaps we can seize the moment and build a civilization that can tame the brutal dynamics that created us.

This. Our scientific understanding on how humans cooperate to not simply feed each other, but prosper with endless creative opportunities of cultivation, demonstrates we are at a tipping point to potentially permanently limit the recurrence of violence inter-generationally. Think of it as reversing unjust hereditary trauma. So many humans being born now see a path to their own prosperity, this century will be remembered as leaving the Planet of the Apes behind.

achillesheels··on Boards are dangerous to founder/CEOs

achillesheels··on Boards are dangerous to founder/CEOs
This is what my father informed me of after seeing the reality of a founder CEO being diluted to nothing in the 90's. All that risk-taking and life which can't be recovered just to pay for someone else's Tahoe ski-trips :(
achillesheels··on UC slams the door on standardized admissions tests, nixing any SAT alternative
How does one examine the retention of memory in the individual? I agree with the exclusive entrances in regards to exams, but how does one demonstrate knowledge of necessary concepts in order to show one is eligible for progressing in the learning? Tests are a form of qualification. One may have the desire but, if one does not have the aptitude to retain abstract intellectual ideas, how does it benefit anyone for one to be participating in the progress of human knowledge?
achillesheels··on Ask HN: I feel so shallow and dumb when I see what other smart people are doing
Children are the ultimate creative project. Beyond that, proper child-raising is promoting the well-being of the future of the human race. This is the 99%'s highest fulfillment and should not be looked down upon as being incomplete. Indeed, it is a wonderful testimony to the abundance of giving life to promote more life-giving.
achillesheels··on Is there such a thing as good taste?
I write art reviews as a hobby and have published my theory in a work called Critique of the Last Man in Film. I view taste to be more biologically predicated in that, quality can ultimately be measured according to a gradient of "healthy" and "sick". Immediately we can perceive "sacred" and "vulgar" and its connotations as it pertains to the subject of the representation. Nevertheless, it is the representation itself which can be understood as a biological expression of life and its experience in the minds of others which we can judge to be good or not. Thus, good art is that which positively resonates with as universal a mind as possible. That claim infers an everlasting beauty is the best art. (Notice I am necessarily relating positive resonances with beauty, not as a metaphor but as an actual electromechanical experience of the brain upon receiving neural stimulation from the body's senses)

Now with respect to originality...that's a separate topic altogether :P

achillesheels··on The illustrated guide to a Ph.D. (2010)
Actually, a universal understanding of the natural world would provide necessarily greater intuitive perspectives on what is necessary to be experienced universally by human minds. Create silos does more harm than good.
achillesheels··on Scrape like the big boys
So then an aggregator is different than a scraping service with respect to the value given to the rest of humanity? In that, in principle one adds value to the content creation and the other deducts through potential harmful interference with its reciprocity?
achillesheels··on The illustrated guide to a Ph.D. (2010)
What can I say, I try to rise above the illiterate mass shrug.
achillesheels··on The illustrated guide to a Ph.D. (2010)
Yes, I judged correctly behind the paywall, your research pursuit is irrelevant to promoting self-knowledge. Unless you are willing to enlighten me on the dielectric effects of the catalytic reactions you are experimenting with? That would be helpful in understanding a more universal and necessary principle of the Laws of Nature you are seeking to understand.
achillesheels··on The illustrated guide to a Ph.D. (2010)
Are you to say that medical school students understand the inherent dielectric and dipole moments in biomolecules and how these interact with pharmacological compounds?
achillesheels··on The illustrated guide to a Ph.D. (2010)
Sir or Madam, isn’t the ultimate motivation for the pursuit of scientific knowledge to enlighten humanity with the experience of wisdom? If so, how enlightened has humanity become thanks to your contributions? I ask because your subjective “wonderful feeling” of possible arcanum may be as pointless as, say, a science of coffee tables, to human progress.

I suppose this is the reassurance of being educated in the engineering sciences: the results speak for themselves.

achillesheels··on The illustrated guide to a Ph.D. (2010)
Hear hear! The “doctorate” is a blank paper compared to its former grandeur. It’s astonishing to me, for example, how unmotivated so many disciplines which rely upon human biological phenomena, eg the social sciences, do not actually mandate knowing cellular biology, let alone its electromagnetic phenomena (I’m looking at you medical schools!). It’s not like the knowledge is absent - it’s the will power to continue to learn, as opposed to secure a salary, that is absent. This is the largest divergence between aristocratic and proletarian science: the pursuit of knowledge for its very sake.
achillesheels··on Scrape like the big boys
Well actually, isn’t Google improving the value of the content ergo property itself by improving its accessibility? I was inferring a one-way street with the accumulated data that can lead to server crashes - which I don’t believe Google’s web crawl does at all (in fact that would be counter-productive).
achillesheels··on Scrape like the big boys
If we are to live in a mutually prosperous society, how is the labor and therefore well-being of the content creator improved by a web scraper? Does this precedent not injury future opportunities for exercising one’s life to making website data available for others to scrape?

By my understanding any website with a copyright disclaimer warrants their data as exclusively their own and are granting permission for other web users to generate it, ie people are not entitled to share their web data with anyone. So if they are, and we agree that it’s good that they do, and continue to create information for others to know, how do we avoid the implicit harm in extracting data without nothing being given in return but possibly harming the internet’s experience for everyone accessing the same information?

achillesheels··on Scrape like the big boys
It is copyright information, no? So technically it is intellectual property theft if the scraping use is for commercial purposes.
achillesheels··on Ask HN: What's your ideal city in a 100% remote world?
I've done extensive business travel in Denver, and, being a CA native, I did not find the winter to be that harsh. In fact, because it's up in the mountains, most of the cold and snow melts away by high noon. You're left with sunny skies until the frost returns at night, but it definitely helps with needing to shovel snow I'd imagine :P
achillesheels··on What do people want in a co-founder?
Thank you for your question. I actually have source code and UX already built out. The product is 70% of the way there. I am looking for more than just a contractor to finish the app and to carry it forward long-term. It’s a great AI play. If anyone reading this would like to learn more please contact me at joseph@adilettante.com

And I agree with your point. I will likely keep self-funding it through software devs until market fit is reached, but by that point why wouldn’t I just keep a dev firm on retainer for QC? Or reach out to seed funding to find an in-network tech lead? I realize now that not all devs are ambitious, but maybe think about early retirement or building financial independence? Then again those who don’t need to work in orgs to pay the bills are independent anyways shrug.

achillesheels··on What do people want in a co-founder?
I know the feeling. I have spent the last two years with almost half a dozen “introductions” with possible co-founders for a business card reading app who just do not have the bandwidth or the gumption to take that “leap in being”. I’m finding in this phase of the tech cycle, it is simpler to bring the product to market through contractors and then finally lure in a tech talent once market fit has been established. Obviously there is great advantages in having a tech lead from the ground floor, but so far, it is eye opening to me how complacent people are with their current high paying jobs. I suppose that’s self-evident, but why not try to live a little?

achillesheels··on Spinoza’s God: Einstein believed in it, but what was it?
Sir, we are experiencing light through our senses when we touch the ground. Are you familiar with how our bodies sample piezoelectrically?
achillesheels··on Spinoza’s God: Einstein believed in it, but what was it?
An unfalsifiable one at that. Unless it is possible to perceive a world independent of light?
