> all politicians from both sides of the aisle held the same views at some point not so distant in time from 2008?

To pick an obvious example, Sen. Sanders didn't hold this view and hasn't for his entire political career

> This intolerance of even the slightest political dissent is worrying.

I generally agree with you, but not in this case. There are some things we consider "politics" that just shouldn't be. Equal rights for people who hurt no one is one of those

Someone has to be pretty far down the rabbit hole before they start contributing money to a cause. This was a deeply held public view of his from what, only 12 years ago? It's relevant when we're talking about a search engine. I wouldn't trust a newspaper published by him either

abqio··on Why you can’t buy a thermapen on Amazon (2016)
Now that you mention it, "things that can start a fire" are also on the no Amazon list for me. Mainly electronics and especially if it's something that will stay plugged in.

I suppose that category also includes safety critical items. Like batteries intended for weapon lights, or offroad recovery gear.

Paypal, Privacy.com, and Blur can solve that problem. I'm sure there are others.
abqio··on Why you can’t buy a thermapen on Amazon (2016)
I buy direct from the manufacturer whenever possible. When that's not possible, I go for a retailer with a somewhat "verified" supply chain. Walmart, etc. will do. Even Ebay is better because at least your purchase isn't coming from a comingled inventory.

This is coming from someone who used to buy from Amazon over everyone else because it was so darn convenient.

After seeing all the horror stories and having friends receive counterfeit or obviously defective, returned, and resold as new items; I just can't trust them anymore. Especially for things that go in or on my body. Or my pets for that matter.

Officevibe is not anonymous in certain circumstances. It shows which city (And maybe IP?) the questions were answered from.

If you're working remotely this could easily identify you.

See my other comment.[0] Particularly the part about checkerboarding.

I can't end up in Canada or Mexico by accident. Nor do I have to drive through them to get from one part of my state to the other.

Yes and no. To expand on the firearm example:

When on federal or state land, I only have to comply with the state's laws. (Basically just don't shoot or threaten anyone.) When on reservation land, I'm protected under the FOPA[0] which is considerably more restrictive. Some of its provisions can be hard to meet. Especially in a two seater pickup truck.

Add checkerboarding[1] to this and it can be very easy to make a mistake because you're constantly changing jurisdictions. Usually with no fence or signage.

I don't want to get into it here but there are a number of reasons one might want a readily accessible firearm when the nearest civilization is ~100 miles away.[2] Hence why one might not always be compliant with FOPA.

No thank you. As someone who lives in one of those states this is a worrying precedent.

Maybe if their laws didn't apply to me as a non citizen I would be ok with this. As it is, I can be arrested for stopping at the wrong gas station with a firearm in my car.

I have no choice but to pass through reservations on a regular basis. And I have no input in the government that makes their laws. Nor any hope of ever being heard. Yet those laws apply to me just the same.

Surely the car could stop powering external devices before draining the battery. It could even be settable depending on how many "miles" you're willing to spend during the outage.

A generator would be ideal but if you already have the car it'll do in a pinch.

abqio··on Spotify signs ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ to an exclusive multi-year deal
It's important to make a distinction here. One that Rogan fails to make in his comments.

Fox fractured her opponent's orbital. This is a facial fracture, not a skull fracture. Skull fractures are life threatening whereas facial fractures generally are not.

There is a large discrepancy in the force required to cause a facial vs skull fracture as well.

Looks like they have an app for law enforcement. It does provide some audio.

>gunshot audio to gain situational awareness, and; precise location of the gunshot to search for evidence.
