a456463··on How OpenAI delivers low-latency voice AI at scale
Also as far as being civil: please watch literally any Rob Pike vibe chastizing Python and Java communities to no end. It is that rhetoric. That is why Go has fanbois. They can only see what the Gopher says and what Rob Pike says. Nothing else.

Other languages have fanbois but they didn't disparage and denigrate other communities to prove themselves.

I wish I could grow a beard. Also as far as being civil: please watch literally any Rob Pike vibe chastizing Python and Java communities to no end. It is that rhetoric. That is why Go has fanbois. They can only see what the Gopher says and what Rob Pike says. Nothing else.
a456463··on Vibe coding and agentic engineering are getting closer than I'd like
Hot take: most people are shit at writing code or logic. We are just going to see more of this vibe coding. This is exposing the bad coders more than anything else. Everything to do with preventing and stabilizing vibe code is what we had to do on a longer scale, now we have to do it a lot more and faster
a456463··on How OpenAI delivers low-latency voice AI at scale
This is valid criticism. Go fanbois don't like listening to any go criticism. They were all like who needs templates in go. and now go has templates.

To me go code looks like somebody vomitted stuff in the root dir and i have to wade through that every time. No namespacing. nothing

a456463··on Mercedes-Benz commits to bringing back physical buttons
Nobody said this but the latest dodge durango is amazing in this aspect. so many buttons and the door work and the shifter works without needing internet. or so it seems.
a456463··on Your phone is about to stop being yours
This is literally the dumbest take I have seen!

iOS charges you and limits your custom app until a few days and you have to "renew" Even before this change, I have my custom apps running forever.

a456463··on Google and Pentagon reportedly agree on deal for 'any lawful' use of AI
I don't like it even tiny bit. But other people are doing it, so I mma go full steam ahead.

This is exactly what got us here.

a456463··on Dear friend, you have built a Kubernetes (2024)
This is a BS claim with no proof. This is the strength of helm.
a456463··on Dear friend, you have built a Kubernetes (2024)
It makes absolute sense. You can use no variables and still deploy helm chart. It is a directory of plain old yaml objects. And add customization when you need as you evolve. Good luck doing that with kustomize.
a456463··on Dear friend, you have built a Kubernetes (2024)
This is why we don't take advice from randos on internet.

I manage 100+ variations on a single helm chart and 50+ such helm charts at work daily for 7 years across 11 datacenters/kubernetes clusters. And I have team members who swear by kustomize. The number of kustomize typo errors and issues that I have deal with is unimaginable. Whereas if I test and deploy a helm chart, I know it will work everywhere in every variation.

Kustomize is just plain terrible and backwards as a solution. It doesn't scale, it is half assed. It tries to basically require you to build your own compiler and parser and transform. With kustomize + envsubst: dear friend, you have built helm.

stay ready to have my toolbox change under my feet at the whims of clown PM and bean counters somewhere. wcgw
a456463··on Filing the corners off my MacBooks
i dont believe you
a456463··on Filing the corners off my MacBooks
same. i thought it was me, but every mbp has been spicy and leaks current like crazy.
a456463··on Filing the corners off my MacBooks
oh fr. macs are garbage dev machines. display gives me headaches. keyboard is terrible, it hurts. speakers are the best part.

the lock screen doesnt show battery charge level. dead battery? mac wont start for 15 min on connecting power... still need half ass homebrew

a456463··on AI Did It in 12 Minutes. It Took Me 10 Hours to Fix It
Same for me. I spent 3 days dealing with AI crap, following it's thinking "process".

However it is great for "go add this username to this allowlist in this file"

a456463··on US and Iran agree to provisional ceasefire
The reason of the conflict being a lunatic and spineless supporters.
a456463··on Sam Altman may control our future – can he be trusted?
Frankly this is why all these big tech companies need to be broken down to pieces.
a456463··on Sam Altman may control our future – can he be trusted?
Not great men. People with "perceived" high networth. Banks will fall over backwards to loan them money. See Chase and Musk. Let's not associate perceived networth with "great"
a456463··on Sam Altman may control our future – can he be trusted?
Amodei is another Musk/Altman wannabe with their RSF. That randomly changes from 2.0 to 3.0. Where is the research on fighting and identify AI slop?
a456463··on Sam Altman may control our future – can he be trusted?
Everybody on HN be handing over their thinking and right to indenpendent compute for some AI speed, quick money gains and fearmongering to big tech.

Even after the uncountable shady things about big tech, people just fall for that convenience left and right. Paying $200/mo to outsource my thinking skill to some rent seeking cartel that steals and is territorial is wild

a456463··on US cities are axing Flock Safety surveillance technology
Couple that with age verification at the OS levels.

Devices tracked on the internet Car tracked outside the house Wifi 7 to track you in the house

Think of the children, the few deaths. Instead we need better policy enforcement. Expire licenses sooner, stricter driving tests, penalties on big tech, breaking up of monopolies, better social care programs, police that are trained in descalating and have empathy towards the community being policed, law makers listening to people and not lobbyists.

All of the right solutions require work. So we are left with an authoritarian fear driven state

a456463··on US cities are axing Flock Safety surveillance technology
Axon has similar spyware surveillance tech too
a456463··on Kids groups say they didn't know OpenAI was behind their child safety coalition
Like what? Have the perpetrators in epstein files been brought to justice? THere are different ways to tackle: for example explicitly fining OpenAI, Google, Meta etc. and not individuals and people who need E2E encryption, free OS and free speeech. Sounds like you would rather live in a dictatorial authoritarian police state instead of thinking for everyone. And take care of your own children. They are not my problem. GTFO
a456463··on Mad Bugs: Vim vs. Emacs vs. Claude
This is modern karma farming but with AI!
a456463··on Mad Bugs: Vim vs. Emacs vs. Claude
Git is also not responsible. Please stop drinking this LLM coolaid and trying to get hype on that.
a456463··on Mad Bugs: Vim vs. Emacs vs. Claude
That is not an RCE. That is an RTFM and you need to learn that you don't download stuff you don't know about
a456463··on Marc Andreessen is wrong about introspection
Yes. They need to be platforms and shamed to hell. Otherwise they thrive in shadows like the ghouls they are.
a456463··on Marc Andreessen is wrong about introspection
I agree he could be doing political revisionism. But I fail to grasp, why?
a456463··on Marc Andreessen is wrong about introspection
Well, yes and no. A can do attitude is needed to imagine taking over fighting a global British empire. All around the world people needed to muster up that courage. That said, equating the outcome of that with smartness was bound to happen. That said, they leadership got co-opted by money outcomes is where the downfall happened, IMO
a456463··on Marc Andreessen is wrong about introspection
Yes. I mean calling them out and people take personal offense as if they are receiving handouts from them or they are that rich. They don't give a damn about anyone or anything for that matter
