Over a decade ago I played with SDR sharp and a tv dongle and got to listen to very cool stuff. I don’t know if SDR sharp still exists, I think it was closed source at the time but free. I remember one could use it to decode stuff and then map to virtual ports to redirect to other software that expected an input from specialized hardware like ship signals and stuff like that.
Interesting, I didn't knew about this format. Curious picture selection on the Wikipedia, I didn't knew about this manufacturer until reading the Ars article above.
I am still waiting for video encoders and decoders patents to go away so we could have easy open source implementations that are royalty free, not patent incumbed to be easily available in open source applications that could be also commercial. We don't have any decent easy to go ones since Theora.
Oh, I have seen these photos before but without context. Does anyone knows if there is any architectural photography book just about it? I would love to have it!
Support for .NET Frameworks 4.8 is essentially forever and .NET Core requires you to jump one version up almost every year, which has a much higher maintenance cost.
I wouldn’t mind farming if it wasn’t for the need of money. There’s a lot of risk involved. I also don’t mind fixing cars, it’s just in today’s world I can work and make more money in an office - and it requires enough hours that I can’t do mechanical work at all, there’s not enough time and I have to pay for those.
Great to see people using GPD Pocket, it is a nifty little laptop, I am impressed with each new version of it. There are few options for very small and portable devices that have a keyboard, and I find it pretty cool.
Any ideas on power consumption? I wonder how much power would that use. It looks like it would be more efficient than everything else that currently exists.
Sorry for being too aggressive it's just I see a lot of people (managers) talking like current chatgpt can replace people at my line of work (R&D in long term economic planning) and I can't see people even begin to formulate the right questions, and never mind understanding the answers.
I can still do integrals by hand. AI isn't the ultimate tool, it still can't do basic proofs and it's not doing neither automated proofs using a proof assistant language. Everytime I see someone say something like this I assume they do pretty insignificant work.
