a-ve··on VPN service for hosting public-facing services on non-hosting ISP circuits
I've used alpharacks and considering the performance of their VPSs, I'm sure they're heavily overselling their services. Same is the case with i83 and their cheap NATed VPSs.

On the other hand, I've been using Frantech/buyVM and the dirt cheap $2.50 VPS from vultr, and never faced any problems with them.

a-ve··on ProtonMail is dropping support for Internet Explorer 11
Might be an issue with LastPass. Bank login pages in my country acted weirdly with Lastpass. I've since switched to Bitwarden and haven't faced any issues.
a-ve··on Spotify adds 1M unique listeners in India in less than a week
Mostly because people who listen to local songs are already using gaana/saavn/youtube, which arguably have a better catalogue when it comes to indie artists and songs in local languages.

a-ve··on Coding on an iPad Pro in 2019
This seems like an exercise in masochism. Why would you want to code on an OS targeted for smartphones and without any native compiler support?

To those who want LTE connectivity, I don't think you know there's a device called the Thinkpad X1 with this functionality built in.

Or is it that coding on tablets is considered "hip" these days?

a-ve··on Encryption toolkit for media makers: A VeraCrypt guide
If you're not afraid of using the command line, dm-crypt is a much better alternative: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dm-crypt/Encrypting_an_...

(Needless to say, the Arch wiki is an excellent resource for those getting started with Linux.)

a-ve··on Vivaldi Browser: Chrome engine, no personal data collected
They were bought out by a Chinese consortium a few years ago. Other than that, they have an in-built VPN (SurfEasy) that mines your data: https://www.surfeasy.com/privacy_policy/
a-ve··on Firefox about:config privacy settings
https://ffprofile.com does almost the same thing, albeit without the memory stuff described in this gist.
a-ve··on Tomu, a tiny ARM microprocessor which fits in your USB port
Speaking of processors on a USB stick, is there any cheaper alternative to the USB Armory? : https://inversepath.com/usbarmory
a-ve··on Walmart Beats Amazon in $15B Flipkart Battle
