Work account
(And lots of kernel shared between decoding and encoding, of course)
Compared to JXL (which admittedly has almost nobody working on except veluca these days...) which was focused on it since the beginning, I think it really matters.
The gains are just too numerous and important to reject the few rust spots on a "good enough" stdlib.
But well, the kind of people who nod a bit too much while reading https://boringtechnology.club/ aren't using Rust. They're on C99, ANSI CL, Ada, maybe Python, Perl or Tcl.
「 THE FUTURE 」
So for the bowling ball, I replace it with an imaginary marble weighing 1 ton and the answer is now self-evident.
So the real question is: what's LLVM policy?
A small tidbit: you don't actually need full syntactic macros to get compile time computation in CL, compiler macros (https://www.lispworks.com/documentation/HyperSpec/Body/03_bb...) suffice.
Or that an unproductive member of society wasn't always scorned or at least viewed negatively by those having to produce.
> Oh please, spare me the condescending bullshit.
Why would I?
I don't use it anymore since getting into private trackers because the network (central server) is proprietary, the experience is much less polished than BT and I want to be sure of the release (LABEL/CATALOGNUMBER) I'm downloading.
If you have simple tastes, easily accept holes in their catalog and don't care about being served butchered "remasters". People who actually care don't use Netflix/Spotify.
Some examples: Melvins' Lysol is (famously) only available on Apple Music and for good measure I just looked right now at Spotify's page for Midori (https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Qjrx8NtccILLfR3wh1u3o) and it has neither their First EP nor Second LP (https://www.discogs.com/artist/777727-Midori-3); I didn't even choose or try multiple artists, I simply wondered "hmmm, is Midori on Spotify?".
Worthless.
