_nhh··on No Calls
i think so xD
_nhh··on No Calls
I wanted to hire a personal trainer who just couldnt coordinate a call with me and I asked him to send me the details per mail. They said they dont do emails so didnt choose them as it was to scammy for me
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – DX focused non framework to interact with the DOM
I agree. There's a fine line between useful abstractions and bloat.
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – DX focused non framework to interact with the DOM
That would make every stackoverflow snippet a framework. I mean framework in the sense of products like next.js/nuxt.js.
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – DX focused non framework to interact with the DOM
I agree :D Do you have a better term for a thing that does not want to be a framework? Maybe it's really just code snippets. It's also not really an API, because the API is the DOM.
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – DX focused non framework to interact with the DOM
For me great DX is when the editor provides useful information about my code. :)
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – DX focused non framework to interact with the DOM
Nice work! JSX is such an awesome piece of technology. Using it with the dom feels like a component based and maintainable jquery.
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – DX focused non framework to interact with the DOM
What do you mean?
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – DX focused non framework to interact with the DOM
User supplied stuff must always be sanitized :)
_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – A no-framework approach to modern front end development
The idea is to copy the three snippets and thats it. After that you can modify as you like and have a decent dx.

There are no updates as there is no framework.

You can browse the repo itself to get a gist of the idea.

_nhh··on Show HN: Zero – A no-framework approach to modern front end development
Thx there are no silly questions.

You can definitely just use jquery. There‘s no problem at all

_nhh··on CORS Is Stupid
100% agree. CORS is very clunky
_nhh··on My 25-year engineering career retrospective
I truly hope that in 15 years, when I am celebrating my 25 year anniversary, I wont lay awake at 4am and think about what I could have done better…
_nhh··on Mario meets Pareto

_nhh··on Programming as a career isn't right for me
Very normal realization. Also a healthy one i think. If you enjoy programming on side projects, do it. I stopped chasing fullfilment in my dayjob. Feels good.
_nhh··on My Node.js is a bit Rusty
Couldnt agree more.
_nhh··on Microsoft spent hundreds of millions of dollars on a ChatGPT supercomputer
This will be the main target for the rebellion when ai takes over i guess
_nhh··on Don't use Tailwind for a design system (2021)
The whole point of a design system is not to have local overrides.

In a design system. You specify variants of a component. Each one has its own combination of style defined by the design system.

You do not set „Gap“ to 2. you would specify smth like „small“, „medium“ or „large“ as props.

This is not a tailwind issue.

_nhh··on Tailwind is a leaky abstraction
Making your own class names arent a standard either. I dont see why you would reinvent and abstract things over and over again in every project?
_nhh··on Tailwind is a leaky abstraction
Not thinking about abstractions at all is why you want to use tw in the first place
_nhh··on Ask HN: How do I build a website as a backend engineer?
With html, css and js
_nhh··on Show HN: Red Goose – Convert your website to mobile app
See, this is where the misconception comes from.

I am happily creating great offline experiences with static html apps embedded into every platform I want. (pc, ios, android, xbox)

All with the exact same code base.

A browser not implies online connectivity.

_nhh··on Use one big server
I agree
_nhh··on Ask HN: How to break anxiety/fear-avoidance cycle?
This is really the only way it keeps getting better for me. Big big +1 on this one
_nhh··on Ask HN: How to break anxiety/fear-avoidance cycle?
I am struggling with this cycle for a long time now. Relieving to hear that everybody just trying to figure things out.
_nhh··on Is routing every traffic through my laptop „secure“ ?
There is this „without tailscale“ and „with tailscale“ comparison.
_nhh··on Is routing every traffic through my laptop „secure“ ?
Tailscale recently raised 100M for its product. While I appreciate the simplification it brings, I am not sure if routing everything through my, possibly insecure notebook, is really key to security.

Maybe I did misunderstand the core functionality, but from my point of view this setup only works in a very restricted corporate environment.

What am I missing?

_nhh··on The web is swallowing the desktop whole (2017)
Jetbrains cares. https://github.com/HumbleUI/JWM
_nhh··on Ask HN: Is there a way to efficiently subscribe to an SQL query for changes?
Oh and you can also create triggers and notify based on that.
_nhh··on Ask HN: Is there a way to efficiently subscribe to an SQL query for changes?
The first thing that comes to mind ist LISTEN/NOTIFY from postgres.

You can listen per code and notify per code.

https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/sql-listen.html

The js adapter for pg can handle this: https://medium.com/@simon.white/postgres-publish-subscribe-w...
