_joanna··on Study Reveals Big Opportunities in the Sharing Economy
Revenue streams are interesting to consider with these sharing focused start-ups. If the values of these users shift to "collaborative consumption", does that decrease or raise questions with advertising as a source of revenue (ethically or effectively)? It seems that a possible underlying value of these ideals is less (or anti) consumerism. Would these users be more open to a 'fee for service' model? (That would be refreshing.)

Side note: Profounder.com is another example of a social lending platform that does not require a fee.

_joanna··on Here’s how to meet a VC (hint: not by paying to pitch)
Ah, the power of your social network. I think a lot of young entrepreneurs don't realize this and think that with hard work and a good idea alone they can make it. While these are essential, the need to meet and establish meaningful connections is one of the main reasons why groups like YC exist. Connections breed more connections. Invest in your social network more than updating your linked-in profile and collecting business cards.
_joanna··on A terrible tragedy: Dan Haubert of Ticketstumbler (fallentimes) has passed away
My boyfriend is a YC founder. After the class of S08 met for the first time, I anxiously awaited his phone call to see how it went. When he called, what was the first thing I heard about...pg...no...Dan Haubert. I heard how he had crazy courage. Then I met him and discovered his gentle heart. Dan, you will be greatly missed.
