_0xdd··on How to build a Linux-based wireless router out of spare parts (1998)
For anyone interested in creating their own router running Linux or *BSD, check out the PC Engines APU2 series. Very inexpensive and uses coreboot.
_0xdd··on Microsoft Hosted Sting Performance in Davos on Night Before Announcing Layoffs
Pirates of Silicon Valley reference? :)
_0xdd··on Ask HN: What's a good home router?
A PC Engines board [1] running OpenBSD would be my preference, but at present it doesn't have the horsepower to route a gigabit of traffic on this OS. A worthy tradeoff, IMO, but others may disagree. Can run Linux or OPNsense [2], too, on these headless boxes.

_0xdd··on Dotfiles Management
I'm a BSD user, so I tend to gravitate towards using rcs. Took a little while to get the muscle memory down, but it does work well for keeping track of my dotfiles.

Reminds me of Soulver[0], one of my favorite macOS apps.

_0xdd··on OpenZFS on OS X
I used O3X for years until eventually migrating to a dedicated NAS box running FreeBSD. Lundman deserves all of the credit in the world for keeping ZFS alive on macOS.
_0xdd··on Using A Very Old Machine
This article makes me feel old, because damn that is not a "very old machine."
_0xdd··on All about QBasic and QuickBasic
This is an awesome story. One of the reasons why I enjoy browsing the comments section here so much. Thank you for sharing!
_0xdd··on Ask HN: What open source projects have great documentation?
OpenBSD. The documentation is second to none.
_0xdd··on What's New in Python 3.11?
…for Workgroups?
_0xdd··on Clarus returns home in macOS Ventura
I love it. It’s about time they brought some personality back to the Mac. I miss things like the startup chime (it’s back!), the backlit Apple logo, the pulsating power light on the iMac G4 when the system was sleeping, etc. Apple got to a point in the early 2010s where they started stripping away these things, and I’m glad they’re somewhat on their way back.
_0xdd··on What hacking AOL taught a generation of programmers
Someone really needs to write a book on this. I really miss those days.
