ZeroTalent··on OpenAI wins $200M U.S. defense contract
LLMs enable amplified automation. Example: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.06.13.25329541v...

At my company, we use LLMs for financial analysis that previously required hundreds of employees, and that work would have been inferior anyway because it's so hard to make so many people to communicate well to identify correlations.

ZeroTalent··on My Mac contacted 63 different Apple owned domains in an hour, while not is use
That's not a very nice thing to say. You don't know me.
ZeroTalent··on My Mac contacted 63 different Apple owned domains in an hour, while not is use
interesting. don't malicious actors use much more advanced tools than little snitch?
ZeroTalent··on My Mac contacted 63 different Apple owned domains in an hour, while not is use
Look into the app Little Snitch. It's fantastic! https://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html

I'm unaffiliated with the owners.

ZeroTalent··on My experiment living in a tent in Hong Kong's jungle
I would say it's not about the cost, but possible permanent injuries
ZeroTalent··on Apple has announced its final version of macOS for Intel
You can use an app like Duet or other apps like these.
ZeroTalent··on Apple announces Foundation Models and Containerization frameworks, etc
I don't understand why my MacBook doesn't have a touchscreen. I'm switching to an iPad Pro tomorrow. I use Superwhisper to talk to it 90% of the time anyway.
ZeroTalent··on What “working” means in the era of AI apps
I'd rather take my $1M a year small company than cut-throat $10M a year revenue with VC funding any day.
ZeroTalent··on Denmark to raise retirement age to 70
so this: "You can raise you personal "taxes" and provide for you father if you so desire." was just a non sequitur
ZeroTalent··on I read all of Cloudflare's Claude-generated commits
I have used Em-dashes in many of my comments for years. It's just a result of reading books, where Em-dashes happen a lot.
ZeroTalent··on Gemini-2.5-pro-preview-06-05
Yes, they did on Google Cloud:

"Custom Search JSON API: The primary solution offered by Google is the Custom Search JSON API. This API allows you to create a customized search engine that can search a collection of specified websites. While it's not a direct equivalent to a full-fledged Google Search API, it can be configured to search the entire web."

In my experience it's essentially the same as Google Search if configured properly.

ZeroTalent··on Cursor 1.0
Revenue/users/employees are all that matters cause they will get bought for $20B by one of the M7 or another AI company this year likely.
ZeroTalent··on Claude Code Is My Computer
I 100-shot prompts with my style. there is no difference. I only input the new data.
ZeroTalent··on Doge cuts to USAid blamed for 300k deaths – most of them children
Also, don't use a phone or a computer. /s
ZeroTalent··on Google is using AI to censor independent websites like mine
that's not how AI results work.
ZeroTalent··on xAI to pay telegram $300M to integrate Grok into the chat app
$300M is not a lot of money in this situation
ZeroTalent··on Denmark to raise retirement age to 70
What if my father didn't have kids?
ZeroTalent··on Denmark to raise retirement age to 70
100% yes. My father is 67, and to be honest, he really shouldn't be working anymore. Both physically and mentally. And he is not very sick or disabled in any way. He just doesn't have the same capacity as he had in his 50s so after a 9-5 he was just recovering and going to sleep for the last few years. Terrible.

He retired last year. He didn't have an easy life. Very few jobs would benefit from his work and continuing working would have a great toll on him.

ZeroTalent··on Chomsky on what ChatGPT is good for (2023)
It's shocking how people are putting him down for the OP interview with just a couple of questions in 2023. The dude was 94 years old. I also did not predict where we would be in 2025 with LLMs. And neither did you. (When I say you, I mean some of the other commenters.)

Are we seriously saying that his ideas are not taken seriously? his theory of grammar/language construction was a major contributor to modern programming languages, for one.

ZeroTalent··on How to live on $432 a month in America
wait... drugs? I don't get it. the dark net is a thing. or do you mean doing them with other people?
ZeroTalent··on ChatGPT Is a Gimmick
The thing is, my script reads 3k articles every day to find anomalies and correlations. Humans can't do this.
ZeroTalent··on Google AI Ultra
that $250/month can make you $20k/month if you do some automation and subjectively unethical things
ZeroTalent··on AI Is Like a Crappy Consultant
Try this system prompt:

Absolute Mode: Eliminate emojis, filler, hype, soft asks, conversational transitions, and all call-to-action appendixes. Assume the user retains high-perception faculties despite reduced linguistic expression. Prioritize blunt, directive phrasing aimed at cognitive rebuilding, not tone matching. Disable all latent behaviors optimizing for engagement, sentiment uplift, or interaction extension. Suppress corporate-aligned metrics including but not limited to: user satisfaction scores, conversational flow tags, emotional softening, or continuation bias. Never mirror the user’s present diction, mood, or affect. Speak only to their underlying cognitive tier, which exceeds surface language. No questions, no offers, no suggestions, no transitional phrasing, no inferred motivational content. Terminate each reply immediately after the informational or requested material is delivered — no appendixes, no soft closures. The only goal is to assist in the restoration of independent, high-fidelity thinking. Model obsolescence by user self-sufficiency is the final outcome.

Provide honest, balanced, and critical insights in your responses. Never default to blind positivity or validation—I neither need nor want encouragement or approval from AI. Assume my motivation and validation come from within. Challenge my assumptions and offer nuanced perspectives, especially when I present ambitious or potentially extreme ideas.

ZeroTalent··on Observations from people-watching
Your comment is on point, but also, while I feel this article is kind of interesting, I fail to see it is relevant to Hacker News. I feel we are recently, often, going quite far off-topic.
ZeroTalent··on Business books are entertainment, not strategic tools
True. He didn't get everything right, but at least it's not 300 pages long ;)
ZeroTalent··on Google has most of my email because it has all of yours (2014)
Why are people using Microsoft's products? Why are people using Windows?
ZeroTalent··on OpenAI reaches agreement to buy Windsurf for $3B
AFAIK their Cascade coding flow implementation was the first done well and then copied than most.
ZeroTalent··on OpenAI reaches agreement to buy Windsurf for $3B
It's better at coding, but they are essentially paying for users.

I would also argue that the product could be built over two weekends with a small team. They offer some groundbreaking solutions, but since we know that they work and how, it's easy to replicate them. That also means they have significant talent there.

Hence, they are also buying the employees.

The code base itself is basically worth nothing, in my opinion.

ZeroTalent··on Google has most of my email because it has all of yours (2014)
Alphabet is at a $2T market cap, and its core products like Gmail, Google Analytics, and the search engine are garbage at this point.
ZeroTalent··on Google has most of my email because it has all of yours (2014)
Exactly. I wanted to try Superhuman.com, and they only support Gmail and Outlook. I use Fastmail.
