Yajirobe··on Productivity porn
Reminds me of this awesome video - The Hustle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o7qjN3KF8U
Yajirobe··on I used DALL·E 2 to generate a logo
I thought the hardest part about logos is the idea itself? Doesn't matter that it's blurry - the majority of the work has been done.
Yajirobe··on Put down devices, let your mind wander, study suggests
slither.io?
Yajirobe··on Most Americans think NASA’s $10B space telescope is a good investment
Also, for comparison, the US military budget in 2021 was $700-800 billion.
Yajirobe··on The brain has a ‘low-power mode’ that blunts our senses
Please don't talk about this nonchalantly - people reading this might try to do something similar and the results may be fatal.
Yajirobe··on The computers are fast, but you don't know it

> running water is likely to have plenty of other life in it

And still water isn't?

Yajirobe··on Computer science is a liberal arts degree
This is transphobic.
Yajirobe··on Brain FLOPS
You can simulate these interconnections on a sufficiently powerful computing device. If you have enough FLOPs, the architecture (almost) doesn't matter.
Yajirobe··on A minimal C compiler in x86 assembly
You write tests.
Yajirobe··on Khan Academy launches Khan World School online high school

Yajirobe··on How Putin’s Oligarchs Bought London
A short video on this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ9RQrcv3T8
Yajirobe··on In-flight surgery with a coat-hanger and silverware
'the doctors successfully released the trapped air from the patient's chest, and she spent the rest of the flight uneventfully eating and watching in-flight movies'
Yajirobe··on A wave function does not collapse upon detection?
Umm.. no, the observer need not be conscious.
Yajirobe··on Russians are trying to flee – data from Google Trends
> A million people marching in Moscow would change minds.

How? What would they do? They would march and riot and protest and then after a day or two they would go home. Meanwhile the politicians will just wait it out and the show will go on (see Belarus).

Yajirobe··on Russians are trying to flee – data from Google Trends
Americans about US wars: 'we cannot do anything about our government - they engage in wars and we couldn't stop them if we tried'

Americans about Russian wars: 'the average Joes need to go out to the streets and bring Putin down'

Yajirobe··on A regular expression to check for prime numbers (2007)
> Since cubic is bigger than linear, this won't work.

So it actually 'works', it's just slower.

Yajirobe··on Words known better by males than females, and vice versa
Meh, the female ones don't seem to be English (at least a lot of them). The male ones are mostly international words.
Yajirobe··on Major breakthrough on nuclear fusion energy
50x is not orders of magnitude off. It's one order of magnitude
Yajirobe··on Poll: Where do you live?
The US map is bigger than the rest of the world
Yajirobe··on Protons are probably smaller than long thought
Quantum theory has the largest error between theory and prediction (120 orders of magnitude). See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmological_constant_problem
Yajirobe··on Examples of common false beliefs in mathematics
That edit history is ridiculuous and one of the reasons I hate such reddit-esque conversations. It's a bunch of people thinking they know their stuff giving wrong answers.
Yajirobe··on Simulation of a 2B-atom cell that metabolizes and grows like a living cell
Stephen Wolfram was right all along
Yajirobe··on AirPods don't “just work”
A shirt provides too much friction thus there is a constant feeling of having the earphones pulled down (especially when moving the head)
Yajirobe··on Dutch athletes warned to keep phones and laptops out of China
Uhh.. yes, I want to know the reasons for taking away and searching through a random person's computer
Yajirobe··on Dutch athletes warned to keep phones and laptops out of China
Why did they do this to him??
Yajirobe··on Who wrote this shit?
It sometimes can be misleading. If I'm refactoring large parts of code (e.g. splitting a large file to smaller ones), then sometimes the original logic written by someone else will be left, but git blame will show me because I was the last to make changes
