In UK we have something like that(can't remember the name of it though). The courts can forbid all parties involved to have any public discussions, They can ban topics from reaching the public through normal mass media means. To make it even worse, they can prevent individuals to do this sort of thing too. Prison time and/or fines if you don't comply. Democracy at it's finest.
The only reasonable way(i can think of) to make it a bit harder for this to happen would be to have a second(and maybe a 3rd)unrelated entity/company in an adversarial country that you can use as a relay. In this case use it as a VPN service to access the e-mail on Proton servers.
Anonimity is inconvenient these days... and next to impossible if any govt agency is out to get you. The only way you can make it hard(er) is to spread over multiple jurisdiction and rotate accounts/discard them after a few uses. A system similar to one time pads of sorts combined with PGP.
50% /s
I'm 100% against it tbh. There are people that would be dead without it(just in case anyone missed the sarcasm)
1- can't study it,in details, live with 0 risk of damage
2- can't test injecting data without risk of damage
3- the live data that we can extract/record (while monitoring input) with current tech is limited. I'm thinking that we're still at the stage comparable with using a multimeter to test a 8 layer pcb, with no schematics, while it's powered on.
I, personally, think science will get there at some point, but we'll need some serious tech advancements to do that.
The closest real life example I can think of would be along the lines of: - your car is in a public parking space and someone look inside vs - the same car is in the garrage and someone breaks the door to look inside your car
On the positive side: You don't have to content with baiting and such things for long.
Advertising is a different beast altogether. Being able to to exchanges (money for goods, etc) is something quite a basic right(If I can call it that). That doesn't apply to making money though. I don't think it's normal in any way to force anyone to conduct business with someone they don't want to unless is a basic necessity in that particular day and age.
Tbh some people here do have a decent point. A private individual can't deduct rent and such. One could argue those are neede to keep working.
The fact that the extensions helps automate some tasks if a different matter. If it were an industrial level scraper that scraped anything public... that could be considered malicious and can cause tangible financial losses.
This extension on the other hand... You can't really justify sending a threat like that. You can come up with excuses but that is it.
Looks like you are right dude. Might as well start getting used to Lineage. I'll miss the oneplus camera apps though.
I'd trade my flat for all transactions involving everyone in the medical field (in UK) for the past 4 years(including relatives and friends). If only location data is available... I'll do with that.
The "(as humanity)" should be removed. A protected class in US/UK might of been the oppresor in other countries. Example below.
Romania and Bulgaria have been invaded countless times by the ottoman empire for hundreds of years. Why would a romanian or bulgarian even consider protecting them(muslims)? Black were part of that same force(and high ranking officials) that pillaged the 2 countries. Why would eastern europeans even owe them anything?
EDIT: As an eastern European I don't ower any of them any protection. If anything those 2 classes owe us according to historical facts.
I personally had the vaccine because I have high blood pressure and I'm borderline diabetic at 40+. I made my call and took my chances. Others should have the right to make their own call.
I'm saying that "no downside" and those sort of claims are outright false and people should have the right to choose for themselves wherether the risks are worth the reward.
Tell this Lisa Shaw's family that there are no downsides: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-58330796

And here's some news from Israel, one of the most vaccinated countries: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/309762
I'd say that is pretty clear cut when looking at the numbers from Israel.
While a good majority(like me) had it and it worked out well for us (risk vs reward wise), some might not be so lucky and it pissed me off that some people are like frogs in a well with a very narrow viewpoint.
It's now proven that it can cause death. 1 death is more than enough to justify not having it. Neither you or anyone have the right to force people to take that risk for the benefit of others. I only took it because I covered all most my bases and my chances of survival in case of Covid were pretty bad.
It wouldn't be the first time that problems appear after a long time and take ages to be proven. The most extreme example of that that I think is thalidomide.
EDIT: If you are going to reduce it to a game of numbers. Some risk side effects so that the majority goes on with their lives, then... when communists were leveling a church and the houses of 500 people could use the same justification since they were building blocks of flats for 10000 people on that area it was justified?
Like you said: I'm amazed by the fact that were close to having a replacement. Not sure how many will be able to afford it but still. It's one step forward.
What makes you think those accounts were really from China and not from Australia, Taiwan or even Iran? Anyone can do it with a tiny botnet/a few ssh's into consumer routers or by buying less popular browser addons.
My point was this is not news worthy by any measure. It's just bashing for the sake of bashing. If you want to make it news worthy, tell me you indentified 1k or 2 of aged twitter accounts that spwe propaganda. Not 1 week accounts.
You can buy accounts for pennies(literally) linked to @outlook.com on blackhat marketing websites. You can also buy the tools to administer all of them.
£500 (estimate) would get you from black hat marketeers:
- 200 twitter accounts (new) - you can also get aged ones but more expensive - bot
- around 25-100 proxies to rotate when posting (depending on quality 25 would suffice)
- someone to do the work for you (a part time PA)
- a win VPS to run it all
I'm no fan of lab growing anything because or banning people from raising animals or having food plots because those that make the food make the rules. That being said... I wouldn't be suprised to see, in 2-3 decades, something taking off in that regard. All it takes is one stroke of genius and a ton of elbow grease to change it all.
The problem with "part of the device lifecycle" is planned obsolescence. I would be up for it though if manufacturers are forced to release the source code and all service information they have the same day they drop support/updates for a product.
Edit: I don't think you realise how many applications of lot of "IoT" things have where they are only on a LAN with 0 internet access. Internet access should be optional, not mandatory.
Automatic updates I have mixed feelings about because they (sometimes) have a bad habit of breaking things and give me a ton of hassle.
