White_N_Nerdy··on The Mystery of the Tainted Cocaine
I said "If you do enough research", which I have. You're asking me to sum up all of the reading that I've done, which I simply am not going to do in order to convince one person.

Do it yourself. I'm not here to hold your hand. I'm not making any arguments, I'm telling you what I know for a fact. I gave you some links, you can start there.

White_N_Nerdy··on The Mystery of the Tainted Cocaine
Oh and if you want to go with a slightly more tame fact...the estimated value of illegal drugs, go with that.

http://www.google.com/search?q=illegal+drug+trade+estimate

Once you're convinced of the estimated value...start using your own logic. The value of the market is absolutely tremendous. If you don't think that the ruling powers that run the governments around the world don't want a piece of that action, you'd better think again.

White_N_Nerdy··on The Mystery of the Tainted Cocaine
If you do enough research on drug trafficking, you'll find that the ruling elite pretty much have that market locked up. It can be shown without a doubt that the CIA, the Mossad and British intelligence run about 70% of the world's drug supply.

It's a 500 billion dollar a year business. More than oil. Think about it.

Whose money are they supposed to use? Whose money do they use to torture people or to conduct domestic propaganda campaigns?
White_N_Nerdy··on Ask HN: Am I the only one who's not in love with Google Instant?
In Chrome, I go to Wrench -> Options -> Under the Hood -> Content Settings... -> Javascript -> Exceptions... -> Add... -> Pattern: www.google.com Action: Block
White_N_Nerdy··on Ask HN: Am I the only one who's not in love with Google Instant?
I have Javascript turned off entirely for www.google.com because I don't like the redirects on their links and I have found no other way to get rid of them in Chrome.

I tried instant search in Firefox. I don't like the way the search box changes position and I don't like the big drop-down notification and I don't like the way that when you press Enter, it refreshes the results. I guess it's safe to say I don't like it.

I'm pretty sure they do things like this for the drama, to get free headlines.
White_N_Nerdy··on Ha Do That in HTML5
I have seen many HTML5 demos that have taken up 50% or more of my CPU. So, what's the difference?
White_N_Nerdy··on Android First Impressions
I am so lucky. I work at home surrounded by computers, so I really don't need a smart-phone because I'm at home most of the time. When I do leave my house, I take my LG Chocolate with me and we have a Garmin in the car for GPS. Ahhh, simplicity.
White_N_Nerdy··on Node.js for Server Noobs
I got the answer on IRC. Basically, you either make your non-Node servers push events to Node.js using Http OR you use something like AMQP. browser -> node.js -> AMQP -> JEE and then JEE -> AMQP -> node.js -> browser.
White_N_Nerdy··on Node.js for Server Noobs
Thanks for the advice. I just wanted to use Node as a way of "pushing" events down to the browser, but the only way Node will know if an event has happened or not is by polling a particular SOAP service. I do own the SOAP service though, so I suppose that I could add a new interface and let Node just connect with TCP?

What's the standard way of doing RPC between Node an other types of services?

White_N_Nerdy··on Razor Syntax in ASP.NET MVC 3 Preview 1
All these posts about ASP.Net are getting in the way while I wait for the 500th article about Clojure or Node.js.
White_N_Nerdy··on Node.js for Server Noobs
Anyone have any info on using Node.js server code to talk to SOAP services?
White_N_Nerdy··on Bill Gates: "Someone decided to trash the one part of Windows that was usable?"
My name is Douglas Engelbart and Windows was my idea before Alan Kay, Bill Gates _or_ Steve Jobs.

A lot of huge sites run great on Windows. Stackoverflow, for one.

How is that embarrassing?
