It's called operation Mincemeat
Tge first one I bought in that way is still working after 14 years. I converted it from Windows to Linux a few years ago and My mother uses it for browsing, banking and email. Personally I'm using a 7 years old HP.
Batteries get upgraded when necessary and first thin I do after buying is adding RAM.
I don't get how 5 years is a good lifespan on a Mac?
The reason the can't use video footage is because your image is biometric data.
There are other ways of monitoring at the workplace without being so privacy invasive.
My team is set free. We don't have work hours. Technically we have to work 3 hours a day, between 10:00 and 12:00 and between 13:00 and 14:00. Without any monitoring they've reached their yearly target in may of this year.
So productivity is a falsehood. Nobody works harder when they're watched. People work hard when they are valued.
Fair performance reviews now and then do the job.
Then back on safety. I used to work in a bar years ago. It was in a busy part of the city and out of 30+ bars on the square I was the last to close. I had 3 cameras and they were installed for my safety. Imagery was erased every morning and only used when needed after a bar fight or theft. That's fair use.
Never use biometric data lightly.
On a sidenote. I just don't get why people want to live in a surveillance state so much. You can't build a society without trust.
Otherwise I'm puzzled by your claim of productivity. Especially since we are stalking about labour productivity.
Notice that the top tier of the list is populated by countries with strict privacy laws.

> “There is a fundamental shift in how nations approach economic output. Strong social policies and strategic investment in worker well-being are creating more productive economies than traditional long-hour work cultures. The financial sector remains a key driver of high productivity, but it’s the emphasis on work-life balance that distinguishes the leading economies."

We're past the industrial revolutionaire for while. A happy pig is a fat pig, one could say :-)
I will oppose any government that outlaws encryption and privacy. There are numerous accounts of peoples personal info being misused for crime. More than there are proven cases of encryption being used by criminals.

They are using the tools at hand and that is what I expect from my team members too.
When applying for a job in my team I either send a test to complete at home or give them an on site test.
I look at the results and the task test comes in the interview when we discuss the reasoning and sources they used. I expect them to use enduring they have at hand. One of the applicants even confessed she had her husband assist. When I asked whether she understood what she filed as an answer she explained the answer. That is what I need from my coworkers. Call it cheating if you please but then I expect them to cheat their way through life to tge fullest.
When evaluating my coworkers, a forlal procedure at my company, I am well aware of their accomplishments and how they perform. I address issues right away and don't wait for formal procedures.
Teachers should know their students, should get the opportunity to work closely with them. I know thats hard with the size of classrooms but of classes are this big and students only have to absorb, why not replace them with interactive online tools? Give teachers the opportunity to teach smaller groups, to work, to remediate,... Then, when a student gets a degree you'll know its worth.

Then, on a worldwide scale, you can see that a lot of people are running unsupported Android versions.

Yes, there is no guarantee they a web app is more secure or up to date but tge likelyhood is far greater as it's a developer's responsibility and not the end consumer.
For example, our id's have a qr on it that contains some basic info. Why not provide a platform for age checks with that qr? Anyway, fuck them. Education goes a lot further than trying to force identity verification on private companies when there is no real life threat in play.
Preventing children from accessing certain websites is not working at all. It also is a cop out. I have children aged 15 and 17. They received their forest smartphone at age 12. The phones were restricted in a certain way and they didn't get unlimited use. We educated them about proper use and at age 15 restrictions were lifted. They allready know how to use VPN's because they're on my paid account. I see it no different from sexual education.
I don't need a government to make a private company collecting my personal identification. The best guardrail against data loss is not collecting any.
