VuWall-Matt··on Samsung’s Foldable Phone Is the $1,980 Galaxy Fold
Speaking as someone who's never owned a tablet, but always buys iPhone+ sized phones (6+,7+), I'm exited for this (and maybe Apple's iteration of this?) in the coming years. I am the type to even hate turning my phone sideways (because it's always on rotation lock) so being able to physically open a thing would probably reduce the barrier to entry of enjoying of my phone / all-in-one device.

Honestly, as a first publicly available iteration it's pretty sleek. I'm excited for the future all over again as this becomes mainstream.

VuWall-Matt··on Ask HN: What's your dev machine setup?
No it seems fine. How would I test for CPU throttling? That said, I do find 8GB RAM restrictive for the number of tabs/VM I have open and wish I had 16GB. Also, I think the SSD might be slowly dying because it's had many, many writes on it by now (reformats, VMs, videos, etc.) and sometimes Windows takes ages to open Explorer to show me my files.
VuWall-Matt··on Ask HN: What's your dev machine setup?
I've got a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (2015) that I run hooked up to two external 27" 1080p monitors along with the 14" 1080p laptop screen itself. My host OS is Windows 8.1 with my Chrome/Word stuff, some Visual Studio, and then I have an Ubuntu VM I run for all other types of development.

The portability and battery life of this laptop are what I love most.I can go to a coffee shop for 9-10AM and work through to 5PM without needing my charger.

VuWall-Matt··on Ask HN: What laptop *do* I buy then?
+1. I've had a T420 for about 5-6 years now. Added an SSD to it and it still works great. It's my secondary laptop now, and I have the 2015 X1 Carbon that is my daily-driver that I couldn't be happier with. It's light, portable, and its battery is a champ. I run Win 8.1 with things like Chrome, Visual Studio, Word/Excel, light Photoshop/Illustrator, and some Xubuntu virtual machines. I'd recommend either of these laptops. In fact, we just bought a few more T420's for the office, gave them SSDs, and installed Xubuntu. They work great.
VuWall-Matt··on H.264 is supported in WebRTC from Chrome 50
Would this mean that you can encode the Chrome windows itself and send it off over the network to be decoded by, well, anything that decodes H.264, possibly another Chrome window's decoder?

VuWall-Matt··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2015)
VuWall Technology - http://vuwall.com - Montreal, Quebec, Canada - Front-End / Javascript Expert

We are a cutting-edge startup with clients that include NASA, FIFA and CTV. We create collaborative video wall software that caters to a number of different verticals (e.g. air-traffic control, digital signage...).

We are currently seeking an expert JavaScript / Front-End Developer to create a next-generation user interface, either full-time or on contract (we don't mind). You will have a lot of autonomy, scope for creativity and be part of a great team and working environment. We have pretty dynamic requirements so we would prefer to not have you work remotely for a large part of the time.

Salary is dependent on experience and whether you come on contract or full-time.

We look forward to meeting you, thank you for your interest! Matt Desrosiers

VuWall-Matt··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (March 2015)
VuWall Technology - Montreal, Quebec, Canada - http://www.vuwall.com

We're looking for an experienced Linux Sysadmin / DevOps specialist with an interest to learn and grow with a small ~10 person team.

We create video wall management software and are heading toward a continuous delivery model that we need your help achieving. We have ~25 computers in house, some powering 2x2 and 3x3 video walls of up to 138 inches (with a PS3 hooked up too!). We need to set up several test environments as our software will run on both Windows and Linux. We'll also need some mundane things like file shares as we want to give our current Windows Server 2012 the boot.

We haven't made any of the big decisions yet as we're waiting for someone with more experience to come and join the team. So that means we'll be working together to figure out whether to use Chef, Vagrant, Docker, Salt, Puppet, or something else. We're extremely open to new technologies and get to work with what are essentially giant toys.

We've done projects in the past for NASA, FIFA, US Army, nuclear power plants, electric companies, and departments of transportation. Our software has been installed in over 30 countries and now we're looking to take the next step forward which we can't do without a bit more organization / streamlining. That's where you come in.
