Why aren't people talking about this and doing something about it?

MTV's 120 Minutes was essential stuff back in the day.
I grew up in Seattle - friends were telling me for years before Nevermind about Nirvana. They were building a reputation slowly across the US. Subpop was helping, they had a national network, but not fast enough. Once Nirvana had a major label marketing for them - things went crazy.
Nirvana was that magic mix of punk/hard rock and pop that broke the dam - and the audience was ready to go.

It was a very special time for music. I became a collector (I got employee discounts at Tower even though I didn't work there). But, when Nirvana hit the big time, labels stopped promoting that kind of music (I don't like the term 'world music' either - Byrne wrote an essay about that). The focus went elsewhere, and to be honest, it hasn't been the same since (confirmed by some friends at some special record labels).
Here's another one worth a half a million bucks, with a rock-star co-founder (Yugo Nakamura), and two years later almost zero delivery. Just more empty promises and lack of delivery (except they have been selling at MOMA since last September):

That being said, it's sad to see people rip on others sites/ideas blatantly. OpenHunt should quickly come up with an original design and find something unique in their approach.
The first one ripped our entire site and simply changed all the texts slightly, and also the look of our system. But, it was oddly different code - why copy the look completely (including our graphics) if you are going to write a new system?
The second one, done by a somewhat semi-famous person at the time, copied our minimal, custom forum. I have no idea how much work that must have been to port Vanilla to look like ours. Friends asked me if I had joined their team which is how I found out.
I never publicly said anything which chewed me up for a really long time. Both of those projects failed long ago. A copycat likely also won't know how to do other things for themselves and you can bet that they won't know how to execute their project when things get serious.
Cushionapp, you're doing it right. Make your app as innovative and unique as you can and just keep doing your thing. Never bother looking at their site/app again...
