TylerLives··on PureOS – a pure Linux phone experience
What I meant was: Why would System76 failing affect Purism (negatively)? I understand that there's some correlation as they're both targeting a similar audience, but it doesn't seem to me like they depend too much on one another.

TylerLives··on Becoming a Chess Grandmaster
> There are much fewer female Chess players, so it is logical that there are less female GM’s

But even relative to the total number of female players, much smaller % reaches GM.

TylerLives··on The Highest Forms of Wealth
I'm young so I'm still fairly healthy but I do have some minor issues(that aren't solvable in an easy way) and the thought of my health continuing to decline over time terrifies me. To make matters worse, nobody around me seems to care. All those issues are solvable, if we had more knowledge and better tools. I'm not sure how I can contribute, but I am sure that this is the most important problem that affects everyone and something I want to dedicate my life to.

The issue is when positions are completely equal and there is no reasonable way to progress. It might still be technically possible to win in such positions, but it would require someone to make extremely bad moves and almost certainly lose. If there is no rule that forces draws in such positions, then players will just keep moving pieces without purpose until either someone's time runs out or 50 moves without capture / threefold repetition happens.

TylerLives··on How we (incorrectly) counted streams at Grooveshark
Iirc, they wanted to make a "YouTube for music". It's unfortunate it didn't work out for them, because a lot of the same piracy problems were present on YouTube.
TylerLives··on How we (incorrectly) counted streams at Grooveshark
I miss this website so much. It had a soul, unlike most websites today. Post about the pirate flag is also worth reading.

TylerLives··on In the search to stall aging, biotech startups are out for blood
2 days ago, he said in an interview:

> A month or so from now, there's stuff I can't talk about, that is happing that will be really seismic in this field. Somebody whose name we all know, and whose name I cannot mention, but who has been talking to me and has been interested in this for more than 15 years is finally going to be doing something. And if you're listening for god sake don't fuck it up the way Larry Elison did 20 years ago and the way Larry Page did 8 years ago. Get it right."

My thoughts: The biggest problem about radical life extension is still cultural. I honestly don't understand how this is not the most important thing in everyone's life. I'm not trying to attack or shame anyone, I'm genuinely clueless. What are people doing that is more important?

What can be done about this though? I don't think it's a good idea to make life harder for those who are privileged in some way, because it will just lead to a world where everyone is equally miserable. And it would be wrong to put all the women in this category, because not all of them have the privilege that you talk about.
