TurdF3rguson··on Google Discloses $94.1B in SpaceX Stock, Marking 6% Stake
They're waiting for OpenAI and Anthropic's bubble to burst most likely and then they can acquire that talent for a song.
TurdF3rguson··on Kill The Cookie Banner
Most of those things involve tracking users I imagine but if there's any that don't, go for it.
TurdF3rguson··on Cloudflare's new AI traffic options for customers
It hits a database with 100M records. The index doesn't fit in RAM. Appreciate relevant feedback always but you can talk a long walk off a short STFU.
TurdF3rguson··on Kimi-K3 on HuggingFace
When Gen Z is in charge of security protocols, lol.
TurdF3rguson··on Google Discloses $94.1B in SpaceX Stock, Marking 6% Stake
I disagree. They're renting out GPUs to other providers because they realize it's a long game that they're in a better position to win because they control infrastructure as well as hardware.

We'll have to wait and see I guess.

TurdF3rguson··on Kimi-K3 on HuggingFace
FYI huggingface refers to the alien from the Aliens movies that we need to prevent from reaching earth at any cost because it means the end of civilization.

Just checking in because y'all sound good with that.

TurdF3rguson··on French firefighters face 'pyrocumulonimbus' for first time
It reminds me of that French fire-fighter who threw caution to the wind in rescuing me and my precious cat Lulu from our flat when it was engulfed in flames. He sadly perished in that fire but I will never forget him.

I can't recall his name but I think he had a mustache.

TurdF3rguson··on Kill The Cookie Banner
Sure but these are all the same thing as cookies.

And BYW, browser headers can even be a violation if it's determined that you are using them for tracking users in a way that violates ePrivacy demands.

It's still a cookies thing.

TurdF3rguson··on Kill The Cookie Banner
And it will be largely unnoticed by site operators because who can be expected to edge case that into their logic?
TurdF3rguson··on Kill The Cookie Banner
> Apparently the eu official website really needs to track you then.

No, they don't really need to track you, that's why it requires consent to do it.

They are doing exactly what they say.

In other words, they're not saying don't track your visitors. They're saying get consent first.

TurdF3rguson··on Kill The Cookie Banner
Is there any other way to get that data? It's clearly about cookies but it's specifically about tracking cookies.
TurdF3rguson··on Kill The Cookie Banner
Actually you can't send any cookie that is not essential to the operation of the website without consent and that would include analytics regardless of PII. same for pixel tracking / fingerprinting, it's all a no-no.
TurdF3rguson··on The relay market powering token resellers and fraud
I think the drug users will know before the Opus users.
TurdF3rguson··on Cloudflare's new AI traffic options for customers
I wouldn't need a cache if my $6 server could handle 1M hits a day.
TurdF3rguson··on Google Discloses $94.1B in SpaceX Stock, Marking 6% Stake
I don't think what place you're in matters anymore when a small lab like Moonshot can come in and take the top spot out of nowhere.
TurdF3rguson··on Rethinking Legal Education in the AI Era
The only way crypto touches lawyers that I can think of is smart contracts, and that's been.. minimally impactful at most.
TurdF3rguson··on Cloudflare's new AI traffic options for customers
It's a cache. My tiny websites couldn't survive getting hammered by AI bots without them.
TurdF3rguson··on The new rules of context engineering for Claude 5 generation models
> a hammer is still a deterministic tool, and even though we don't even fully understand everything about physics

Mid-swing in hammer-space you are in a hyper-position as to hitting your thumb or not, are you not?

TurdF3rguson··on Kimi K3 built a Windows XP in browser
You can put the app url in the browser and it will recursively open itself. I got two deep before I got scared.
TurdF3rguson··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
It's not the model weights people are panicking over losing access to though. It's the compute.
TurdF3rguson··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
Well, no. We're mostly talking about banning access to models running on someone else's infra.

I don't think many people in this thread have the resources to run a frontier model in their living room.

TurdF3rguson··on The arguments against open source AI are bad
There's a much easier way to get that information though. Just ask it some questions. Would you rather do that or analyze TBs of training data?
TurdF3rguson··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
There is a finite number of tokens that a rig will turn out over it's lifetime. Divide the cost of the rig plus electricity by that number and you have your cost per token. Yes providers can screw up on scheduling and end up paying more than they should, but that's not magic.
TurdF3rguson··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
The cost of those output tokens is not zero or marginal.
TurdF3rguson··on The arguments against open source AI are bad
Well I don't see how it even could be open source, since the source is distilling closed weights models, lol.

Also, who cares about having the source? Are you going to tweak it + spend a billion dollars training to get slightly different weights? Who would do that?

TurdF3rguson··on Cruller: Bun's Zig Runtime, Continued on Zig 0.16
I don't know that there's ever been a high-profile fork of a product acquired by such a fat, mealy, and genuinely unspooling parent as Anthropic's acquisition of Bun before.

But by all means I would love to hear some examples of that.

TurdF3rguson··on Late.sh – a command-line Clubhouse for computer people
That's not one of my pronouns you jerk.
TurdF3rguson··on Late.sh – a command-line Clubhouse for computer people
The people why ran that line without knowing what it does are dummies. And yes maybe not 1M but there were a lot of them.
TurdF3rguson··on Late.sh – a command-line Clubhouse for computer people
And... Cue 1M dummies here running that code without even looking at it, SMH.
