Any idiot can standup ejabberd and write some user mgmt + a mediocre web interface.

We all saw how quickly folks migrated off hipchat.

This is commodity software.

It's only a matter of time until MSFT gets their shit together, ships a passable chat product, and crushes slack, having sales channels into like 90% of like all businesses.

Slack is a joke and if they were publicly traded I'd short them.

When was the last time you used Linux? I installed Ubuntu on a Dell lappy provided by work, everything just worked and it required less tweaking than osx would have for serious SWE work.

I slap types on my elixir structs and even if it's not entirely comprehensive (success typing) it definitely helps with refactors and helps me catch bugs.
