Theizestooke··on A cheaper, smaller Raspberry Pi 3 is now available
I had a similar experience with my raspberry pi, and the only alternative I found was to use a banana pi with sata.
Theizestooke··on Has Chrome fully taken over yet?
sadly that's also my go-to query when using startpage
Theizestooke··on Nitrux – Powered by Linux, KDE Plasma 5, Qt and Nomad Desktop
It's Ubuntu-based, with some modified KDE desktop.
Theizestooke··on Diaspora: Hello and a big welcome to everyone arriving from Google+
What are you basing these claims on? Any recent events in german history you could point to?
Theizestooke··on Twitter to remove ‘like’ tool in a bid to improve the quality of debate
These are horrible to parse, and make me want to remind everyone that blogs still exist.
Theizestooke··on Ask HN: Best alternative to Gmail?
Threads about email providers seem to be a prime target for astro turfers on HN. There are so many different providers, yet weirdly its always the same company with the most comments.
Theizestooke··on The Evolution of Reddit’s Architecture (2017)
reddit video is particularly dreadful. I usually skip the link if it's reddit video.
Theizestooke··on Karl Ove Knausgaard Concludes “My Struggle”
I'd have thought "Mein Streben" would be a suitable alternative. Weird choice with "Sterben", although I don't know anything about the book.
Theizestooke··on Our experience launching a paid, proprietary product on Linux
Who said that? Because I doubt there's any money in it, more likely they're doing it for "more exposure".
Theizestooke··on Lethal aggression in chimpanzees is better explained by adaptive strategies
chimpicide
Theizestooke··on Emacs 26 Brings Generators and Threads
Anyone know when the Windows builds will be available for download?
Theizestooke··on Reddit’s Redesign
Advance Publications is a majority shareholder in reddit, the same company that owns Conde Nast, who in turn publish Wired.
Theizestooke··on Void Linux: Into the Void
thanks.
Theizestooke··on Fedora KDE
One thing I didn't like about KDE was that it presents you with a lot of configurability, but it's configurability I never cared about in the first place.

Giving the user every option he/she possibly could want is not necessarily good design. Tbh it seems like a cheap cop-out from making design decisions in the first place. Leaving the user with a lot of noise.

Theizestooke··on Overture JS – A powerful basis for building web applications
Does it offer encryption features like protonmail or tutanota? I had a free fastmail account for a very long time, but switched once they moved to a pay-only model.

Basically fastmail is ok, but not really worth paying for. The interface isn't revolutionary, but does its job. If you're happy with gmail or whatever web-client you're currently using, you're not missing much.

Theizestooke··on A list of 600 new free MOOCs
You can also use http://mooc-list.com/ to search by subject, department, etc.
Theizestooke··on The Unfortunate Fallout of Campus Postmodernism
"Students are being taught by these postmodern professors that there is no truth, that science and empirical facts are tools of oppression by the white patriarchy, and that nearly everyone in America is racist and bigoted, including their own professors, most of whom are liberals or progressives devoted to fighting these social ills."

What's the source for this? Why should I take this article more seriously than a random screed on social media?

Theizestooke··on Undercover in a Toronto factory where a temp worker died
That is some great journalism, can't remember the last time I read an article like that. Also telling that this article has less than 20 comments on Hacker News. Or maybe it's a sign of the times that this sort of stuff appears on a tech news site at all.
Theizestooke··on BYTE Magazine's Lisp issue (1979) [pdf]
There's less and less money in journalism nowadays, people with the chops move on to PR or advertising.
Theizestooke··on Draw.io releases open source desktop versions
Well there is Emacs Artist Mode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIuX87Xo8Fc
Theizestooke··on Arch Linux Mirror Loli.forsale Removed After Name Complaint
not 4chan but japanese manga & anime culture.
Theizestooke··on Defense of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop offers case study on how to sell snake oil
They probably know already most of their readers are in the science camp, so it's just catering to their base. Plus, as the other poster pointed out, it's a way to show independence from their owners. (Conde Nast likely just happy they're able to profit from both sides)
Theizestooke··on Defending a website with Zip bombs
A great way... to provoke a war with people running botnets.
Theizestooke··on Redesigning Google News
Get Tiny Tiny RSS. It's a blessing. https://tt-rss.org/fox/tt-rss/wikis/home
Theizestooke··on Moving from Wordpress to Hugo
If you worry about Wordpress and security, and like the idea of having a static site, maybe check out Simply Static (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simply-static/). It's a WP plugin that creates a static copy of your site. Just upload to your server and unzip, and you're done.
Theizestooke··on How a French scholar was treated at US airport
"engueuler" is berating, not beating.

Theizestooke··on OpenBSD on PC Engines APU2
I thought this was about running OpenBSD on the PC Engine video games console (Turbografx).
Theizestooke··on Reddit’s CEO edited comments that criticized him
If this means the alt-right leaves, great.
Theizestooke··on Aberfan: The mistake that cost a village its children
I hat those layouts. Just give me a static page, maybe chop the article into separate bits and hyperlink them. But this... it's like it was made by tv people who hate reading. I don't know.
Theizestooke··on Amy Goodman Is Facing Prison for Reporting on the Dakota Access Pipeline
Ok maybe clarify what you mean by "She can handle this one".
