TheSaifurRahman··on JetBrains Air: A System of Products for Agentic Software Development
OK I checked and it is available in the Plugin version of Air, but not in its own IDE. Which is okay.

Any ETA on the mobile app?

TheSaifurRahman··on JetBrains Air: A System of Products for Agentic Software Development
I mean the OpenAI API integration but on a different hostname, like another URL that is OpenAI compatible, not with another ACP following agent framework.

Try this in Zed:

Open settings > AI > LLM Providers [Configure] >

there is OpenAI and OpenAI subscription - ignore those two.

On top-right, there is "Add Provider" with two options:

1. Compatible APIs (OpenAI)

2. Compatible APIs (Anthropic)

When I choose "Compatible APIs (OpenAI)", I can input a custom API URL.

TheSaifurRahman··on JetBrains Air: A System of Products for Agentic Software Development
That's unfortunate. I hope you guys are able to crack a deal.

Also, is it possible to use JetBrains Air with OpenAI-compatible APIs/proxies?

TheSaifurRahman··on JetBrains Air: A System of Products for Agentic Software Development
I think this is the future of code editors.

Two things that fell short for me:

1. No support for my Claude subscription

2. The git interface lags behind other JetBrains IDEs

Are no-reply emails associated with the accounts if the username is changed? That's one reason why I switched back to my personal email.
TheSaifurRahman··on All AI models might be the same
Has there been research on using this to make models smaller? If models converge on similar representations, we should be able to build more efficient architectures around those core features.
TheSaifurRahman··on All AI models might be the same
This only works when different sources share similar feature distributions and semantic relationships.

The M or B game breaks down when you play with someone who knows obscure people you've never heard of. Either you can't recognize their references, or your sense of "semantic distance" differs from theirs. The solution is to match knowledge levels: experts play with experts, generalists with generalists.

The same applies to decoding ancient texts, if ancient civilizations focused on completely different concepts than we do today, our modern semantic models won't help us understand their writing.

TheSaifurRahman··on Notetime: Minimalistic notes where everything is timestamped
I see a lot of people mentioning how easy it is to add a timestamp using a shortcut or git blame, but that overhead could kills note-taking. Both writing and lookup/review should be extremely fast.
TheSaifurRahman··on Notetime: Minimalistic notes where everything is timestamped
I've dedicated Sublime Text specifically for my development notes. I use a single folder in my home directory for all these notes. Every new tab gets a timestamped name and this directory assigned (Yes, my sublime's default behaviour is now this), so if I save it, it goes there.

I also have a shortcut to save all files at once, which is great because I end up with a lot open by the end of the day.

It helps keeping track of info I might need later, like backups, text transformations, optimizing DB queries, curl calls, less important passwords, refining emails with LLMs, drafting prompts, etc.

I love how fast my workflow is now: just switch to sublime, open a new tab, type away, and hit `CMD + Y` to save all at the end of the day or week.

For lookup: Mostly, I remember a few keywords and search across files. They're timestamped, so they're sorted in the sidebar (e.g., `2025-03-20_11-02-15-77dee966.txt`).

Shoutout to Odatnurd, who helped me code the plugin and live-streamed it (link in the forum): https://forum.sublimetext.com/t/how-to-auto-save-unsaved-tab....

Things I wish I had:

1. Structure (A scrollable view, with expandable notes, date range picker, better search)

3. Encrypted backups

I find that there are different kinds of ways in which I think of notes (or note types):

1. Dev notes (scratchpad)

2. Thoughts and logs (don't lose it, when did that happen)

3. Long notes we study/review (lecture notes, obsidian)

I feel Notetime is great for [2]. It's a great idea for building a similar sublime plugin.

TheSaifurRahman··on Launching RDAP; sunsetting WHOIS
Whois it ;)
TheSaifurRahman··on Launching RDAP; sunsetting WHOIS
I’m assuming this is a client app, and not a server implementation.
TheSaifurRahman··on Launching RDAP; sunsetting WHOIS
Worth mentioning are two open-source RDAP projects that are helping move the internet to a more structured system:

DNSBelgium: https://github.com/DNSBelgium/rdap

RedDog: https://www.reddog.mx/home/2017/12/14/server-1.2.2-patch-rel...

Could you share some events/resources to back your claims about CF being backed by the government?

I’d love to move out of CF.

Does CF allow changing the nameservers?
TheSaifurRahman··on Tell HN: I think there are major issues with Google –> Squarespace domains
Google is the registry for .app, they own the .app zone.

Other registrars also sell .app via Google and most of them should have an option to transfer .app, .dev, etc.

They only shutdown their registrar business.

TheSaifurRahman··on Launch HN: Creo (YC W24) – Build internal tools with NextJS and AI
Not sure if you watched the YT video.

But here is how it works.

1. You clone our starter, which is a Next.js boilerplate with our UI package (uses shadcn): `npx creoctl@latest init`

2. You run npm run dev, and this starts the local server. You'll get a chat prompt on the screen where you can ask the AI to make the changes, and it'll write the changes to the disk, or you can write code by yourself in your IDE.

3. You push it to GitHub.

4. You create a new organization on https://app.trycreo.com and connect your repository.

5. You access your tools from the dashboard.

You'll need to connect to your own database, we currently do not offer managed database instances.

> we are still the ones building most of the tool.

You will always have to build the piece of software that's specific to your needs. A framework can only make it simpler. Today, we are writing code; tomorrow, you'll need to prompt/draw/imagine in your head (hopefully) to get something built.

> auth - why do I want to use your auth over the many tried and tested auth solutions for Next.js? Where are you hosting the user data? Or are we hosting the auth data ourselves?

To set up auth, you'll need to set up keys, webhooks, and SSO for the providers. Just to mention, the auth is not part of the boilerplate; the auth is applied when your repo is deployed, as we embed your repo on our platform.

We are also using Supabase internally, so that's where the user data is hosted. You can of course build your solution with one of the many solutions out there. But we wanted to keep it simple keeping in mind all the use cases of a regular internal tool. For example, it may change to something else as we offer SAML, etc.

> Components - there is a hundred dashboard component UI libraries. Some of them are very extensive and good. Why do I have to pay for this?

You are right, there are many options, and most of the time, going ahead with any of the maintained ones works out with no issues. We want to be one of those many. Right now, we are using shadcn/ui, but later, we will develop/extend components that are frequently used in internal tools with a reduced number of properties. Our UI library will be open-sourced; it's not something you will have to pay for, and you can use it with any of your projects, as it's an npm package.

> Group permissions - this seems fairly straight forward to implement. Some auth solutions also have this built in.

Yes, it's straightforward, but time-consuming to build. I have yet to see a built-in solution where you can configure things like which team/group should have access to which tools. Most built-in solutions stop at assigning groups/roles, and it's because tools (or some generic entity) may not be relevant to their users (unless it's a solution for internal tools).

> In terms of AI offering, it’s not much different than asking ChatGPT and I already pay them $20/month.

We want to be on top of the game in terms of the AI when it comes to any knowledge that Creo should have, like its components, how to glue them together, error handling, and being fast with feedback loops (not taking a huge prompt and minutes to build the entire app like many other solutions). ChatGPT could be really good, but it will be spitting out unopinionated code, and to get it to produce code in a certain way, you'll need to prompt it heavily. Think of mentioning "Use shadcn's card in light theme" every time you want a card component. The value here is in the context being provided by default.

TheSaifurRahman··on Launch HN: Creo (YC W24) – Build internal tools with NextJS and AI
Co-founder of Creo here. We realized that providing common features like auth, components, group permissions, and white-labeled deployment adds significant value, especially for those seeking an opinionated solution. While these tasks are relatively straightforward to achieve, they can be time-consuming due to the numerous options available.

Additionally, we do have an AI offering as well, which has the information about the components, check out this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDTk1SmtpXw
