Lol, I've heard little kids ask that at church. Never heard an adult seriously ask that though, usually just as a gag.

I must admit my stack is outdated, I still use CGI::Application, though I love Moose. I haven't kept us since catalyst, etc started to appear. CGI::Application works really well for me.
The other day I implemented push notification and geolocation bases functionality for a client in a couple of days.
To them it looks like magic, but to me it's just awesome that there are libraries in cpan to do just about everything making it a real time saver.
What I did was start low as a jr. system admin for linux systems. I'm not very social so I never made 'connections' so I hade to improve my skills. So from jr I went to sr, and within a couple of years got my first job as a jr. dev for a small company.
It's at these kinds of jobs that you will learn the essentials:
MVC Databases HTML/CSS/Javascript Message Queues
From here, it's up to you to keep improving your skills and building projects. Managers don't like github profiles, so I highly recommend you have your own app (not just a website.)
From there you can move on to things like: Mobile Apps Function Languages Socket Servers Low Latency Systems
Of course, always make sure you study and learn the basics. Such as basic sorting algorithms, working with bits/bytes, etc.
And so on.
I told them that their systems were faulty, and they told me this was a 'feature' of the account type.
I told them I never asked for such a feature, and expect it to work like every other bank account where it denies transactions based on funds.
They reversed one of the overdraft fees and removed the 'feature' from my account at no cost to me. Now if I don't have funds in my account and try to make a transaction, it gets denied. The way it should be, I haven't paid overdraft fees since then.
Prior to the dead sea scrolls people would speculate the prophecies in Daniel were written after the fact.
The carbon dating in the dead sea scrolls seemed to prove otherwise.
>Scripture does not define typical Christian behavior; let's not conflate the two.
Exactly, thank you.
Blurring this line is exactly what irks me, if you're going to 'talk shit' about Christianity then use scripture. Otherwise, properly define that you're simply arguing against stupid people.
Don't say you know scripture, and then use anecdotes to show it.
Sin is well defined in the bible, it doesn't matter what people think it is or what it should be.
BTW, I'm aware the author didn't make this claim directly, but this notion is what irks me.
If you ask any Christian, and indeed they know the nature of the equality of sin, then these 'common' Christians that don't follow scripture and bash people can't exist.
If that's the case, are these people you are talking about being Christian, or just being people?
For my spare time I work on my 2d android mmorpg: http://developingthedream.blogspot.com/
I built a 2D mmorpg using Perl and Erlang. The languages a lot of people whine about when it comes to syntax. Syntax is the LAST thing I had to worry. I'm really happy that I chose those two languages.
I make iOS and Android applications for a living. It is ridiculous to have to create a service to make a few HTTP calls. For that, Android/Java provides various threading classes so that you can keep multi-threaded code nice and neat.
With iOS, out of the box, you get NSURL and its family. You have to setup callbacks in your class and you have to keep track of your http calls per class by using things like action=whatever. What a pain. ASIHTTPRequest makes things much easier.
Ugh, this just makes me mad. Why would people listen to shitty developers? Why are you spreading this ignorance?
Objective-C is a giant paint, with opaque types. Having to remember what class you've put into a dict can get messy.
I have to work with both frameworks every day, and Android is the better framework BY FAR.
My current employer is a small shop even though I got offers from a lot of companies who were offering to pay more. They enticed me by allowing me to work for lower pay so that I don't have to bust my ass every day.
I work a few hours a day and 8 hour days are rare. Telecommuting is also an option but I like to work at the office.
They also buy a bunch of ipads and android devices I can take home and play with.
This is much better for me than working at a different company at least 8 hours a day and specially in a startup environment where you have to work long hours to get a product out.
Also, do you know what the bible says about the Greeks and their knowledge? Because if you don't then you're just wasting our time. ;-)
You are making a very uneducated presumption by clumping these gods together. How very unscientific.
How am i expecting people to listen to me? WTF? Because I posted one post on this thread? I'm not the person writing a blog and claiming that I know there is no God.
I know first hand just how useless college education is, along with those books. Which to be honest, I've only skimmed through a few.
I honestly can't get past the self-righteous bullshit that those people assume. I just can't stand when they make simple mistakes regarding the texts they're arguing against. I hate it how they assume their conclusions are better than the conclusions of thousands of years of accumulated texts. I hate it how it's being taught to even dumber people who can't get past the bullshit. And I hate it because I'm forced to read them to find out the dumb shit people believe in.
If I learned anything in school is this: humans are stupid.
There has been few if any scientific truths achieved by a man that have stood the test of time. I would never rely on their conclusions for anything. (Much less any conclusions from a silly philosopher.)
(Sorry for the rant, I've just recently been forced to read stuff from Joseph Campbell and I'm still annoyed by it. Even though he makes an occasional good point or gives me an idea, he's still an idiot.)
I feel much better than when I was driving but making a 30 minute commute. Not only is the bus more interesting, it gives me time to think and read sometimes and even meet girls. Plus the excercise really gives me a boost for a full day of programming.
The bible has a lot to do with that since it's a standard upon which (at least for the most part in America) the idea of God is derived from.
Seems like a lot of people don't even know what they don't believe in so they make it up.
