Human progress without ethics and compassion is no progress at all.
One thing though, on Chrome (Mac 5.0.342.9 Beta), intermittently I can't click next to get to the next slide, I get the following error: /apps/learn/jquery.chili.js:241 Uncaught ReferenceError: $el is not defined. This does not happen every time.
It's amazing how little things have changed on the instant messenger side since I started using AIM.
I will forever associate ICQ with that silly Uh Oh! sound when you received a message.
I've seen comments on here that people doubt Facebook is as strong as it is. For young adults Facebook is synonymous with the Internet.
I'd be interested in the numbers as well, but the whole idea that because most of us on here don't use it, it can't possibly be doing as well as everyone else says is pretty silly. It's like Avatar, yes it did gross almost three billion dollars world-wide, and yes it's not the greatest movie in the world but the money and in FB's case the userbase speak for themselves.
Look at the whole Ubisoft Assassin's Creed 2 mess.
In Sony's case I think they partly blame the PSP's problems on piracy and don't want it to happen to the PS3.
I doubt most gaming companies were using the OtherOS feature in order to learn how to program on the PS3, they hopefully have dev kits.
I agree that companies shouldn't promise one thing and then two years later do something completely differently.
And note, most non-MMORPGs games on PC have free online.
It's redefined each generation. This generation is about motion controls as the top seller of all time, the Nintendo DS, has motion controls alongside its console brother the Wii which also does. Sure the 360 has stream lined the online experience, however it has also introduced gamers to the closed era of consoles. You want a bigger HD? Sure just pay an absolute premium on it. Not to mention the 360's hardware problems which have been conveniently forgotten.
The fact that you're comparing the Wii to flash games is absurd. It's fine not to like the Wii, I know I don't like it besides some drunken debauchery, but its impact on the industry is clear. Clear enough that Microsoft and Sony are both coming out with motion control products in the next year.
Flipping it over on me doesn't change the fact that your comment was poor. There are also obvious counterarguments to your point that popularity means you're right but I don't need to go into them.
And yes it was clear. I think anyone reading the article should come to that conclusion. Your comparison was shallow and silly and I called you on it.
