TheArcane··on Our position on open-weights models
I cheer every time there's a new Deepseek, Qwen, Kimi, Z.ai release. Intelligence shouldn't be owned and charged for by a few

If it were up-to these silicon valley tech bros, they'd find a way to meter and charge for the air we breathe.

TheArcane··on Our position on open-weights models
certainly better than this one. Look at Africa under western neocolonialism vs China's infrastructure loans
TheArcane··on China’s open-weights AI strategy is winning
masking the active genocide & war crimes in Palestine
TheArcane··on China’s open-weights AI strategy is winning
For instance, try asking American models about the Palestinian genocide

anecdotal but we heavily use Qwen to build our own models on top of
TheArcane··on Is this the end of the once-mighty GoPro?
> Apple somehow reigns supreme still.

That's because America ban anything that starts to compete, like Huawei or Chinese car companies

TheArcane··on Is this the end of the once-mighty GoPro?

TheArcane··on QwQ-32B: Embracing the Power of Reinforcement Learning
chat.qwenlm.ai has quickly risen to the preferred choice for all my LLM needs. As accurate as Deepseek v3, but without the server issues.

This makes it even better!

TheArcane··on Pi-hole v6
> Don't have to expose my home IP address and open a port for the world to start banging on

Is that really an issue if all you're exposing is the VPN port? Wireguard for instance has industrial-grade encryption. Even open port 51820 should be fine

TheArcane··on TL;DW: Too Long; Didn't Watch Distill YouTube Videos to the Relevant Information
Bit of a waste to host this locally and still need an openai api key. This would be great with Ollama
TheArcane··on DeepSeek-R1: Incentivizing Reasoning Capability in LLMs via RL
And they did all this under a GPU embargo? We're witnessing a Cuba moment.
TheArcane··on DeepSeek-R1: Incentivizing Reasoning Capability in LLMs via RL
I'm confused as to how you haven't found R1 to be much better. My experience has been exactly like that of the OP's
TheArcane··on Julian Assange has reached a plea deal with the U.S., allowing him to go free
This has the same energy as labelling any critique of Israel anti-semitic
TheArcane··on America is in the midst of an extraordinary startup boom
Is the startup boom in the room with us?
TheArcane··on Apple M4 benchmarks suggest it is the new single-core performance champ
The best strategic decision Apple has made in the last 15 years is to vertically integrate and build their own processors.

M-series is so far ahead of the game than an air-cooled M4 has better single-core performance than the best desktop PC chip money can buy. Incredible.

TheArcane··on Apple announces ability to download apps directly from websites in EU
How does someone not in the EU get this?

I wonder what Apple's line is to justify not making this open for everyone

TheArcane··on Air Canada is responsible for chatbot's mistake: B.C. tribunal
companies with AI chatbots probably:

1. Replace customer service agents with shitty LLM

2. Distance yourself with shitty service by shitty LLM

3. Profit.

TheArcane··on Show HN: Trains.fyi – a live map of passenger trains in the US and Canada

TheArcane··on Will workers hired as Remote all be laid off in next wave?
FAANGs are not all of software engineering, neither do they set tends for everyone else

so no, remote work os definitely here stay

this is the way
TheArcane··on Firefox address bar
The bug status still says Open?
TheArcane··on Firefox address bar
As someone who loves Multi-Account Containers, as long as this bug[1] isn't fixed, the address bar is severely handicapped for me
