Tepix··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Was just looking over the Safari 27 release notes¹, which is part of macOS 27, and noticed this:

Web Driver

New Features

- Allow your agent to connect to a Safari browser for development and debugging via the Safari MCP server. (176038457)

Related (From July 1st)

Introducing the Safari MCP server for web developers

https://webkit.org/blog/18136/introducing-the-safari-mcp-ser...

So that's interesting. On the other hand, looks like WebXR support for Safari will never come.

Tepix··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026)
Sounds interesting. Clever name, too. And open source. I’ll check it out.
Tepix··on Your car is selling your data
Remember that story a week ago „everything I own, owned“? That’s one way.
Tepix··on Show HN: Hacker News, without AI
You need to search deeper!

Looking at the iPod 6G QEMU emulation story:

Tepix··on We Replaced MMAP with Io_uring in Our Rust Query Engine. It Got Slower
You're absolutely right.
Tepix··on Neki – Sharded Postgres
Make it serverless.
Tepix··on Neki – Sharded Postgres
So apparently the neki router uses many parts of Postgres. But is it open source itself?

Apparently not.

Tepix··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash
I'm sure that it will work, but tokens/s will suffer quite a bit. You may still be able to get 10t/s or so..
Tepix··on Show HN: What if the speed of light was 5 km/h?
Look closely at the floor. You're not moving backwards.
Tepix··on Show HN: What if the speed of light was 5 km/h?
> "the Speed of Light is pretty slow" > How i got there: > The closest major galaxy to the Milky Way is Andromeda, and is 2.5 million! light-years away.

The speed of light is high. It's just that the universe has expanded into an unimaginably large area by now.

Tepix··on Tell HN: OpenAI keeps re-enabling the 'allow training' setting
Sounds like the same issue with Apple re-enabling iTunes sync of passwords. The only way to prevent it from doing that is to create a profile that prohibits it and sync it onto the iDevice.

Horrible.

Tepix··on AirPods 5
You can get cheap wireless earbuds with ANC for 10€.

Apples cost 130€.

How much of that difference is in the BoM? Probably not that much.

Granted, Apple does a lot of expensive R&D. But they also sell a ton of Airpods, so the R&D cost per unit is small.

Apple is making a lot of money on Airpods.

You need to rent a VPS (for $$$) to avoid litigation however. The those VPS have increased in price also.
Tepix··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash
Interesting. a Meta-Nitter.
Tepix··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash
Amazing Cyberbench scores. Holy shit.

Too bad that DeepSeek AI went beyond 470b weights (which is a somewhat realistic limit for a 2x 128GB unified memory machine cluster like Strix Halo or Nvidia Spark).

That means that to make the model fit into memory there you need a quantisation of lower than 4bits per weight (which is usually bad) to fit it into the available memory.

Tepix··on Mistral raises €3B
I really hope that Mistral will catch up. I'm left wondering why so many Chinese labs manage to be competitive.

Perhaps Mistral has too high moral standards to keep up?

Exactly. This means he will change the model to fit his world view.

Tepix··on Ask HN: Fable hacked my piano, can I release the results?
Sure, on github it will (still) get the most attention, but perhaps another repository outside the US is a better fit.

You could also create a text document instead of a software that details the mechanism used to fool other MIDI decoders and publish only that (for now).

Finally, familiarize yourself with the Art. 6 Software Directive (2009/24/EC) / §69e UrhG — decompilation for interoperability. It may be your ticket for a legal status in Germany/EU.

> The CEO's antics, no matter how disturbing, simply aren't most people's top concern when making a product choice.

These people need to realize that what you see is what shapes your thinking and the social network's algorithm decides what you see and what you don't see. In the case of X, it's grok aka Mechahitler.

Tepix··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
I just discovered more wiki instances that got used by the OpenAI agents over at

https://www.wikiservice.at/fractal/wiki.cgi?action=browse&id...

and

https://www.wikiservice.at/probier/wiki.cgi?action=browse&id...

It's the same software and host as DseWiki.

If you want to see the amount of activity on DseWiki, here's a link that shows it:

Tepix··on Bug Blindness
Well, there are standards such as the WCAG 2.2 Guidelines.

There are also large-scale studies.

Btw, WCAG recommends 45–75 characters with a limit of 80 characters. Why not follow their recommendation?

Tepix··on Bug Blindness
A website should be readable, even if the browser is set to fullscreen. It could be that the user is on a kiosk system where she can't resize the window or doesn't want to, just to improve legibility.

Guess what: When you setup your smartphone, it asks you what font size you want. So it's unlikely to be 16pt for everyone.
