Are you considering or have you ever considered moving to or developing some other CMS?
Tenemo··on Many hard LeetCode problems are easy constraint problems
So what was the issue the CTO had with vibe coding? Had you disclosed to then that you used LLMs for coding "basic" features outside the math and whatnot?
Tenemo··on Many hard LeetCode problems are easy constraint problems
There's even a rocket emoji in server console.logs... There are memes with ChatGPT and rocket emojis as a sign of AI use. The whole repo looks super vibe-coded, emojis, abundance of redundant comments, all in perfect English and grammar, and the readme also has that "chatty" feel to it.

I'm not saying that using AI for take-home assignments is bad/unethical overall, but you need to be honest about it. If he was lying to them about not using any AI assistance to write all those emojis and folder structure map in the repo, then the CTO had a good nose and rightfully caught him.

Tenemo··on GPT-5 Thinking in ChatGPT (a.k.a. Research Goblin) is good at search
I had the same problem and I figured out how to fix it! For Samsungs, Apps ‐> ChatGPT -> Battery -> Unrestricted completely fixed the issue for me, it continues thinking/outputting in the background now. Should be a similiar setting for other Android distributions. Basically, it wasn't the app's fault, the OS is just halting it in the background to save battery.
Tenemo··on The Therac-25 Incident (2021)
The full 1993 report linked in the article has an intetesting statement regarding software developer certfication in the "Lessons learned" chapter:

> Taking a couple of programming courses or programming a home computer does not qualify anyone to produce safety-critical software. Although certification of software engineers is not yet required, more events like those associated with the Therac-25 will make such certification inevitable. There is activity in Britain to specify required courses for those working on critical software. Any engineer is not automatically qualified to be a software engineer — an extensive program of study and experience is required. Safety-critical software engineering requires training and experience in addition to that required for noncritical software.

After 32 years, this didn't go the way the report's authors expected, right?

Tenemo··on GPT-5
I wish they posted detailed metrics and benchmarks with such a "big" (loud) update.
Tenemo··on Australia widens teen social media ban to YouTube, scraps exemption
There is, I'm a long-time user of ReVanced-patched YouTube. Comes with all sorts of plugins, tweaks and knobs.

In the options, there's a Shorts section, a couple example options: "Hide Shorts in home feed", "Hide Shorts in search results", "Hide Shorts in subscription feed". I do not see any Shorts, ever.

Not only that, apart from not having ads, Revanced YT also has customizable SponsorBlock integration, which skips ads/sponsors in the actual video (community-based feedback).

Instructions on how to install it (no root required) can be found on the revanced subreddit, beware fake sites in the search results, go straight to Reddit or Discord. Highly recommend!

Tenemo··on Making steel without emitting CO2
I think there's like 3 orders of magnitude more water in our atmosphere by weight than CO2, so a swap wouldn't drown us. But the point you were trying to make is clear.
Tenemo··on "If nothing changes, all remaining Nitter instances will go down eventually"
I still use Reddit is Fun (RiF) with no problems. There's a ReVanced version, you provide with your API key and it works like it always had.
Tenemo··on 2TB microSD card is on the way early next year
It sounded extremely improbable to me, so tried googling and I wasn't able to find anything that would back up such claims. Can you provide a source for the information that MicroSD cards have more than e.g. double total physical capacity?
Tenemo··on South Korea Will Police 'Shrinkflation' at the Supermarket
Yep!
Tenemo··on Tiny volumetric display
I would pay $200+ for a bigger (50x50?), rugged, RGB version of this that you can make to display different images without coding.
Tenemo··on Ask HN: What was the outcome of Reddit blackout?
Not completely dead, but yeah, for the vast majority of users who are not very technical, they are dead (and unsupported). I, personally, still use Reddit is Fun daily, so the API price hike didn't change anything for me, so far. It just required a patch with ReVanced Manager and providing your own API key via a text file.
Tenemo··on Last Chance to fix eIDAS: Secret EU law threatens Internet security
These are some of the requirements: "Ability to digitally sign documents in the browser using a crypto token" and "Support for Web3". What does that even mean? This is a serious, government-backed competition?
Tenemo··on Most promoted and blocked domains among Kagi Search users
Let’s dispel with this fiction that Google doesn’t know what they're doing. They know exactly what they're doing. They're trying to change the internet.
Tenemo··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (July 2023)
9 interviews (2 technical "screens"?) for an early startup?? If you were some HFT unicorn offering 400k salaries I'd understand, but you might want to consider relaxing your interview process. You're not going to get top candidates this way, they can spend 1/3 of that time to get similar/better offers somewhere else. I was about to apply, then I read through the process and decided not to.
Tenemo··on Helion’s fusion power purchase agreement with Microsoft
Thanks for the link! The rebuttal sounds very reasonable. I doubt the Real Engineering guy has much expertise in that area and just mostly went for the views and fusion hype.
Tenemo··on Helion’s fusion power purchase agreement with Microsoft
Real Engineering did a great video on this company and their approach, specifically: https://youtu.be/_bDXXWQxK38

Tenemo··on Ask HN: Is remote work killing your network?
Put on a Performance Improvement Plan, a prerequisitive before getting fired. Also known as Paid Interview Prep, because that's what it ends up being for many people.
Tenemo··on James Webb telescope reaches its final destination in space, million miles away
Destin's channel is one of the older, best-known channels in the YT's educational sphere. Recently, the US Navy even let him on a multi-day tour of a nuclear submarine and tape classified information (later redacted). He himself worked in the military. I don't think that it's fair calling him a random youtuber, to me he seems like the perfect youtuber to interview such people (as Destin himself has a background in rocketry).
Tenemo··on Militarized Dolphins Protect Almost a Quarter of the US Nuclear Stockpile
You forgot to multiply the warheads' yield by the number of missiles onboard.

475 kt × 12 × 24 = 136.8 Mt, so that's even way more than that.

Tenemo··on Designed in Minecraft, Built IRL
It's not a 100% reliable method for checking if there should be more content somewhere, there could be a bunch of JavaScript listeners attached to surrounding elements that could add more content upon interaction.
Tenemo··on A little bit of plain JavaScript can do a lot

Tenemo··on Evidence that the key assumption made in discovery of dark energy is in error
Your ruler is absolute distances, like the speed of light. You can inflate or deflate the balloon and the number of marks on its surface won't change. But the time required for the light to travel between them will.
Tenemo··on Build Your Own React
Since you are talking about using Redux, you most definitely can dispatch push actions with libs like connected-react-router or just use the history API directly (for things like replacing state instead of pushing). Most of the redirects I write are inside business logic and I don't like mixing <Redirect /> in there, too.
Tenemo··on ColorBox by Lyft Design
The divide between these roles you mentioned has gotten bigger over time in my opinion. It's maybe easier nowadays to put together an okay-looking proof-of-concept app, but when getting into large apps and high traffic, the stack has gotten more complicated to do right. You don't just roll out server-rendered MVC app, but need front-end with 3 layouts for different devices and state management more complex than on the back-end. Or maybe that's just my feeling.
Tenemo··on Ebola Is Now Curable
I really wanted to actually read the article but I just had to go back to the comments. The page was unusable, I got some subscription/popup endless loop, had to close a popup every 5 seconds. I assume it's because of some limitations of the built-in Chrome browser in materialistic app, but still, come on wired.
