Taikhoom2010··on Is the industry ready for tokens-constrained work?
Simply put token spending is way overblown, and prices have fallen and should continue to do so, as the pricing power of frontier Labs dissapate.

Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
Yes, but what would lead to Apple's decline? Sure, you can say that everything can decline; all I am doing is articulating why they can be around for a very long time, considering the competitive dynamics surrounding the company.
Taikhoom2010··on Discovery Loop
Well its not the only enterprise tool, but from the perspective of llm delivering enterprise spexifc insights
Taikhoom2010··on Discovery Loop
yes perhaps, although I think the best option for a enterprise is to train a model on it's own data.
Taikhoom2010··on Discovery Loop
The problem is all these new labs don't have any competitive advanatge amongst each other, talent can only take one so far, though Jeff is a legend no doubt.

Models are commodities the applications eg. BaseTen, OpenRouter should capture the value.

Taikhoom2010··on Xbox goes down. You can't play games you own on disc
Xbox failed aggregation; Microsoft should exit the business.

Taikhoom2010··on Apple is getting this wrong
Odd, regardless, OpenAI is spreading itself too thin, trying to fight wars on the enterprise, consumer, and hardware fronts, and will likely end up losing them all.

Models are a lost cause anyway - https://open.substack.com/pub/taikhooms/p/why-openrouter-can...

Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
As in apple has a consumer brand which creates a sense of status, and then a developer ecosystem which has to develop for Apple since they have the highest paying consumers, and a they have services which create switching costs if you try leaving the ecosystem as a consumer
Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
How so? None of those were directly consumer companies.
Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: What Is Stripe Today?
That is a unique angle I did not think about - I did try to explain why I think it is an aggregator nonetheless.

Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
Yes, but Apple has two-sided lock-in, in terms of a brand and consumer pricing power, as well as ecosystem lock-in through services.
Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
Disagree; regardless of the hardware change, Apple will release its take, and people will continue to use it. I write about the dynamic of a double-sided lock-in here: https://taikhooms.substack.com/p/apple-has-the-lowest-disrup...

Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
No on smartphones while Apple's market share by revenue is like 20 ish %, they have like 80% of the industry's profits. If you're interested in the specific dynamic, check this out - https://taikhooms.substack.com/p/apple-has-the-lowest-disrup...

Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
Respectfully, you're wrong here. You may, in your opinion, not use Google Search, but search revenue is growing rapidly, and AI overviews are a much better experience than a consumer app.
Taikhoom2010··on Ask HN: Can Apple Ever Be Disrputed?
Perhaps, maybe the modular tech future? Framebook is interesting, but that is likely a niche market. If you are interested, I tried to articulate what keeps Apple around specifically here - https://open.substack.com/pub/taikhooms/p/apple-has-the-lowe...
