TYPE_FASTER··on Cloudflare K2: serverless event streams
Depending on your use case, exposing S3 data with CloudFront will decrease the transport cost.
TYPE_FASTER··on Tesla’s optimus hits snags in hands, suppliers as scale-up begins
The Elon vs. Zuck cage match might just happen after all.
TYPE_FASTER··on Microsoft Abandons Personal AI Chatbot Race with Copilot Reboot
I think it makes much more sense for Microsoft to provide a good agent orchestration layer for their operating system and productivity software (are we still calling it that?) than try to compete with the Frontier providers.
TYPE_FASTER··on JetBrains Air: A System of Products for Agentic Software Development
I'd agree with this. I've been working with Claude on an app. I wanted to increase the size of one element in the UI. I could have asked Claude to do it, but I wanted to understand the application, as well as it kinda seemed like a waste of time and tokens.
TYPE_FASTER··on Claude Status – Elevated errors for multiple models
Yup, switched back to good ol' opus-4-6, seems to be working for now.
TYPE_FASTER··on Pangram – AI detector for text and images
Microsoft Word converts dashes to emdashes if you type "<word> - <word>".

Outlook used to do this. I'm using a Mac, and Outlook on the Mac is a different animal, so Outlook on Windows may still do this conversion.

TYPE_FASTER··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Yeah, Alfred is one of the first things I install on a new MacOS install.

Also enjoying Rectangles WM.

TYPE_FASTER··on HuggingFace: Security.txt
I noticed Google AI Mode (so Gemini, I was doing some quick research in the browser ok) got a detail wrong once, so I asked it what happened. I kept digging deeper and finally just asked it to write me a Python script visualizing what happened. It did, complete with vectors.

Now I want to go find that conversation in my history and see if it can tell me about weights, and how that contributed.

TYPE_FASTER··on DaVinci Resolve 21.1
I used Google's Agent Development Kit to make a super simple agent outside of Resolve that I can use to say "take a 10s clip from file1.mp4 starting at 00:01:25 and a 20s clip from file2.mp4 starting at 00:02:00" then tell it to preview and render. Speeds things up.
TYPE_FASTER··on IBM Bob
Definitely gonna change Jira config to start estimating work in Bobcoins.
TYPE_FASTER··on I miss the old Claude Code
We all do.
TYPE_FASTER··on Version Control for Everything
I guess it kinda depends on your use case. If you're versioning software artifact binaries and want to have support for rules for retention (keep n number of builds around), version numbering (you can only write a release artifact with a version number once), etc., using Git for text and Artifactory for artifact binaries has worked pretty well for me.
TYPE_FASTER··on AI's debt binge can't last, hidden borrowing reaches $1.65T
> Which makes it tempting to believe it's probably closer to inning 3.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking. New ways of productizing the technology are still be defined as people are using it. The pricing models are evolving in real-time as the providers figure out what the market will bear.

TYPE_FASTER··on New Framework Desktop Option with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 and 192GB Memory
They were just leaving room for the "Ultimate" model, to be released next year.
TYPE_FASTER··on It's a shame what's happened to radio
College radio is still a thing. I've discovered some good music via WRUV (UVM). WERS (Emerson College) dropped the Rockers reggae show when they changed their programming back in 2013, but I should try streaming again and see what it's like these days.

TYPE_FASTER··on Meta building cloud business to sell excess AI capacity
Are we watching the next sacrificial infra build-out happen (Global Crossing/Iridium), where eventually a bankruptcy will lead to affordability? Is this an artificial semiconductor demand peak with rapid expansion due to business FOMO? Will semi manufacturing ramp up to meet this peak, leading to a glut? Will this be like the pandemic supply chain whiplash impact on outdoor gear (Kona Bicycles at one point was offering a BOGO deal)?

TYPE_FASTER··on No More JetBrains Products for Me
Every once in a while, I have to figure out an IntelliJ indexing issue. I've got a personal Claude sub and access to Claude for work, so will not be using the JetBrains AI sub. If the indexing gets worse, or paying more for their AI becomes mandatory, I'll be done and back to Emacs, which is what I've been using for Claude anyway. Not there yet tho.
TYPE_FASTER··on No more JetBrains products for me
I asked a former truck driver once and his answer was that it's easier to see what's in front of you than behind you. I wondered why people in our neighborhood backed into their driveways at first, then I realized this was indeed true. If I turn into the street and back into my driveway, somebody probably hasn't jumped behind my car. If I get in my car and back out of my driveway, somebody walking/biking along may not notice my car backing out of the driveway, and my old potato backup camera isn't always the best at illuminating people behind my car at night in bad weather.
TYPE_FASTER··on The Siri for Families Apple Will Never Build
Every. Time. No, I'm not interested in something with a similar name on the other side of the planet, I'm interested in the thing that is a 10-20min. drive away from me.

My LG dryer was using wifi to advertise an extended warranty for itself.

Then it broke, maybe I should have bought the warranty?

I bought a simpler model without wifi this time.
