SwiftyBug··on Show HN: bbcli – A TUI and CLI to browse BBC News like a hacker
Me too! I found a few nice ones in the App Showcase page in the Ratatui website: https://ratatui.rs/showcase/apps/
SwiftyBug··on Show HN: A better Hacker News front end
I too wish hacker news had that by default. I use this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vihn/
SwiftyBug··on Did Space Debris Hit A United Flight Over The Rockies Thursday?
I have a paralyzing phobia of flying. I do, but It's always many hours of sheer terror. In my paranoia, I recently unlocked a new concern about air travel: what if a meteorite hits the plane? That would certainly be catastrophic. And now I've acquired a new one, space debris! Nice.
SwiftyBug··on Show HN: Glide, an extensible, keyboard-focused web browser
This is my dream browser. Thank you so much for this!! I love that by default all inputs work in modal text editing. Do you plan on adding more complete Vim motions do that? For example, daw to delete the word, D to delete to the end of line, etc.
SwiftyBug··on Python-Style Kwargs in TypeScript
I use that approach to group options in a single parameter. But then not only the options parameter must be nullable, but also its properties:

function findAll(tableName: string, opts?: { where: Record<string, any>; limit?: number; sort?: "DESC"| "ASC" }) {}

SwiftyBug··on Expert: LSP for Elixir
How about "Fairly Knowledgeable, Always Humbly Ready to Learn from Others"?

FKAHRLO for short.

Does it handle foreign country customs too?

I've been finding myself liking TUIs more and more. I've been using lazygit, lazysql, and lazydocker for over a year now, and not once have I felt the need to use their native GUI counterparts. I'm getting to the point where I wish almost everything was a TUI. I think that as a macOS user, TUIs are simply better if your goal is to rarely leave your keyboard's home row, especially when TUIs implement common vim patterns like slash for search and hjkl for navigation.

One thing I couldn't find in your post was the reason behind choosing the ThinkBook. I'm about to make the exact same switch you did (thanks for bringing up Omarchy, I hadn't heard of it before!). I'm considering a ThinkPad P14s. What made you decide on the ThinkBook?

Same thing for me. Except that I don't feel comfortable disabling everything that needs to be disabled for Yabai to work. My solution was to use AltTab[1] (switch windows, not apps) and not use the fullscreen options. I keep windows sizes maxed, I don't have the Dock visible. I just need to alt + tab to quickly switch windows.

SwiftyBug··on Cursor CLI
What do you mean? I've been patiently waiting for the death of Xcode for a long time. Do you think it's near?
SwiftyBug··on Gleam v1.12
The Gleam community has been the best, most welcoming community I've ever seen on the internet. And I've been a around for a while. I attribute this in part to their clear stance.
SwiftyBug··on GitHub pull requests were down
Right in the middle of a huge rebase. Great!
SwiftyBug··on HTMX is hard, so let's get it right
I think this debate is as old as time. I can see value in arguments both for and against this pattern. It's just a pattern. GraphQL does the same thing. As long as the consumers of that endpoint is aware of that behaviour I see no harm. In most cases, these endpoints serve only the frontend of the app. I would avoid doing something like that for a public API though.

And "nova" in Portuguese!
SwiftyBug··on Crush: Glamourous AI coding agent for your favourite terminal
I completely agree with you, but let's not pretend that Go's dependency manager is free from supply chain attacks vulnerabilities. The whole module mirror shenanigans took a hit on my trust of Go's module management.
SwiftyBug··on Palestinian who helped make Oscar-winning No Other Land killed in West Bank
Welcome to Hacker News. We talk a lot about tech stuff, but the occasional culturally-relevant news also gets to the front page.
SwiftyBug··on Why Elixir? Common misconceptions
Also, Gleam fully supports Elixir packages.
SwiftyBug··on Why Elixir? Common misconceptions
Nubank, Latin America's most valuable bank, relies heavily on Elixir and even acquired Plataformatec, the company where Elixir was created.

A blog post by them about this: https://building.nubank.com/tech-perspectives-behind-nubanks...

SwiftyBug··on Swift-erlang-actor-system
I didn't know that Fly.io uses Elixir! They even have an entire blog dedicated to their use of Elixir: https://fly.io/phoenix-files/
SwiftyBug··on Man wearing metallic necklace dies after being sucked into MRI machine
This reminds me of something I've always thought that Toph – spoiler about Avatar: The Last Airbender – should also be able to blood bend since she created metal bending and the blood is full of iron.
SwiftyBug··on How to Firefox
One thing that keeps me on Firefox, that I've never seen another browser implement, is per-tab profiles. Chrome and Safari also have profiles, but they require one profile per window.
SwiftyBug··on How to Firefox
It supports both Chrome and Firefox extensions. Vimium works flawlessly.
SwiftyBug··on Man wearing metallic necklace dies after being sucked into MRI machine
That seems to be very strong. What's the effect of this type of magnetic field on the iron in our blood?
SwiftyBug··on Bun adds pnpm-style isolated installation mode
The next gen of compiler backends. They output binaries by infrering the most likely next token.

SwiftyBug··on My experience with Claude Code after two weeks of adventures
I've been using it pretty heavily and never have I been rate limited. I'm not even on the Pro Max plan.
SwiftyBug··on Run TypeScript code without worrying about configuration
The Java SE version can be called Java SEX.
SwiftyBug··on Show HN: BloomSearch – Keyword search with hierarchical bloom filters
Does that mean that you can't query substrings or do fuzzy searches?
SwiftyBug··on Show HN: BloomSearch – Keyword search with hierarchical Bloom filters
How do you use Bloom filters to replace your current logs? Bloom filters are very good at knowing for sure that something does not exist in a set. What exactly is your set in this case? In other words, how can you query a dataset that's behind a bloom filter?
SwiftyBug··on Show HN: VS Code extension to edit the filesystem like a text buffer
Is it possible to make an extension like that for Zed?
