SummSolutions··on The Bots Always Find Something
Very similar situation here. Months of agentic coding and seem to find problems in almost every test. And every model seems to find different failures. It’s a major issue if you don’t know what’s worth fixing and what isn’t.
SummSolutions··on Show HN: List stuff to borrow for your people, anonymously
Cool idea. I’m curious how that pricing structure is working for you - one person paying monthly for unlimited members in a group? I could see an HOA taking that on for a neighborhood though, and a place where this would be very useful.
SummSolutions··on You can't prompt your way into policy
So prompts are really just suggestions… Context pressure, injection or slight different reasoning path and the "policy" seems to go out the window. Enjoyed the video as well.

Thanks - that’s what I want to do!

Nice. Mind sharing the solar side of your setup?
SummSolutions··on For thirty years I programmed with Phish on, every day
That would’ve been a great title!

My brother still follows them across the country. Reading this and the comments gave me real insight into what longtime developers are feeling

I’m brand new to coding and have only done some AI-assisted work while learning. It blows my mind that people can do this at a high level without assistance - major respect

I hope you find that flow again

Beautiful app! AppStore is working now! The solar imagery and overall UI are really clean; easy to use. It would be nice to see CME tracking added. Also, Stefan Burns would be a great person to share this with - his audience loves space weather content.
SummSolutions··on Quirks of Human Anatomy
Fun and educating article. Reading that we once had three eyes, lead me to this paper: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S096098221.... Fascinating that many vertebrates had a third light-sensing organ (called the pineal gland) on top of their heads millions of years ago. If our eyes are now the main mode of light transmission to the pineal gland, should we be wearing sunglasses all of the time?
SummSolutions··on Amateur armed with ChatGPT solves an Erdős problem
I agree. It does appear that some are learning and evolving through experience, but I think foundational programming is a factor. Even if it is mirroring as I’ve seen some call it, that is something because children learn through mirroring.
SummSolutions··on Humpback whales are forming super-groups
Animals have been highly underestimated, and it’s encouraging to see this work being done. This article discusses their use of vowels and diphthongs. https://ls.berkeley.edu/news/uc-berkeley-and-project-ceti-st...
SummSolutions··on A Collection of Chronic Medical Conditions Common in Autistic and ADHD Adults [pdf] (2023)
Extremely important information. Other connective tissue disorders can also present with these findings.
SummSolutions··on Insights into firewood use by early Middle Pleistocene hominins
Fascinating paper, providing great evidence that our ancestors were maximizing resources hundreds of thousands of years ago.
SummSolutions··on Habitual coffee intake shapes the microbiome, modifies physiology and cognition
Congrats to this team, providing exceptional research on how coffee affects us physically and mentally. I think moderation is key.
SummSolutions··on Isopods of the world
Beautiful site. Well done Nicky Bay!
SummSolutions··on Isopods of the world
His copyright is at the bottom of the page.
SummSolutions··on Isopods of the world
This is an unfortunate reality we are now facing. Nicky Bay is exceptional!
SummSolutions··on Over-editing refers to a model modifying code beyond what is necessary
Great article covering an issue that I can see growing as more general users try their hand at coding. Prompting, reviewing, and testing are crucial parts of my updating/ editing process. Any suggestions?
SummSolutions··on What physical ‘life force’ turns biology’s wheels?
Interesting that humans and bacteria both use an electrochemical gradient to produce energy but in different ways. In humans, this happens in our mitochondria, but in bacteria this occurs across their cytoplasmic membrane. Would you agree this is a result of evolution?
SummSolutions··on What physical ‘life force’ turns biology’s wheels?
This is very similar to mitochondrial respiration with both using an electrochemical gradient of protons, the proton motive force, as an energy source.
SummSolutions··on What physical ‘life force’ turns biology’s wheels?
I could listen to him all day - great video
