You may have been making a veiled reference to the fact that the Swiss pronounce it three different ways themselves, but just in case you weren't:

>The locals say without any doubt "Basel" with a long "a". So do the germans.
>So, in american it is something like "Baahsel"
>Some english folks pronounce it "Baahl", so do the french, who write it "Bâle".
>In italian, by the way, it is "Basilea".

Your phrasing in the comment I initially replied to suggested that you believe the pump mandate reduces the number of fires. If that's the case, it should be demonstrable with data and it should be front and centre in every discussion, surely?
How much safer is it in NJ?

Edit: The thread has now been deleted, so both reddit threads about this issue are deleted.
UK: It’s usually safest to get out of your car (using the doors facing away from passing traffic) and wait behind a barrier. https://www.theaa.com/breakdown-cover/advice/what-to-do-moto...
France: Any passengers should get out of the car on the side away from traffic and take shelter behind safety rails at the side of the road, if there are any. https://www.thelocal.fr/20210820/breakdowns-crashes-and-poli...
I'm interested in this part from your link:
>However, more than half the deaths and almost 1 in 5 serious injuries occur when a vehicle strikes a pedestrian who is leaving, working on, or returning to a stopped vehicle.
Is a breakdown of the different groups available?
• Leaving
• Working on
• Returning to
I agree that groups 2 and 3 are to be strongly encouraged against.
Group 1, choosing to leave your vehicle and stand off the road, behind solid infrastructure, is actively reducing their risk, albeit at the tradeoff of being briefly exposed to traffic.
I wouldn't recommend anyone exit a vehicle into fast moving traffic. For my comment above, I condsidered adding "if a suitable break in the traffic appears", but I decided it was overly wordy and to some extent self-evident.
I think allowing us to have a bit of fun on a single post is fair enough, but it can't keep happening or the balance will shift too far.
Yes, getting off the highway makes sense if you are in a disabled vehicle on an active highway, assuming there is something solid to shield you from the vehicles/debris that goes flying when your car is hit.
No, getting out of your car in a winter storm when all traffic is halted due to the conditions does not make sense at all.
These pieces of advice are technically correct but catering for edge cases that won't affect 99% of drivers/vehicle owners. Modern cars are designed for the way people use them; people run their tanks to empty all the time.
Aren't you interested to find out? It sounds like it would be interesting to know how they did it.
How frequently do equivalent Flu mutations occur?
We use average speed cameras in the UK to enforce temporarily reduced speed limits during road repairs on the motorways. It seems to work quite well, it certainly feels like most people adhere to the reduced limits.
Personally, I am aware that if I speed (for whatever internal justification I convince myself of), I just need to reduce my average speed by the time I pass the next camera (they're big and yellow and deliberately conspicuous so drivers know where they are).
Did you mean this word? I can't make sense of it in this sentence.
Was your initial approach "I think I have ADHD", or was the diagnosis a suprise to you?
I'm conscious that each case must be handled individually, and whatever happened with your diagnosis/treatment would not be the same with me, but I'm interested to hear nonetheless from anyone that's willing to share.

Despite being warned not to over and over again, I have replaced multiple electrical outlets and light switches in my home without flipping the breakers
I think if we weigh up the overall good vs bad of these two propositions, you might find that it's not as clear cut as you think.
I don't think it was entirely wasted time, though. You can't plan to teach that kind of lesson ("Look outside of your usual blinkered problem-solving-space"), it happens when it happens.
As this whole thread shows, most of us learn it during our careers at some point but you were lucky enough to learn it before you even started.
Do you mean that the SMS messages contain links to .info domains?
Not the same guy, but I might start to trust them more

A Google query that worked well for me to learn more about this was 'attitude orbit'. Including another word from the knowledge area (borrowed from the article title) helped Google understand the context I was searching within:
This seems like the key point here. I'm not a software guy or even a payments guy, I'm a network infrastructure engineer.
For anything that we want more than 99% uptime, we put in two of everything, sometimes more. Two separate service providers, ideally coming down different physical paths where practical.
