Algorithmic interviews like that test your capacity for bullshit. They're like "I know I'm testing you on irrelevant bullshit, but I want to see you succumb to my unreasonable demands to have studied trie-based search, because that means you are more likely to swallow any other bullshit I'll throw at you on the job".

I've had the same thing happened to me, were the interviewer was asking arbitrary and sometimes very general questions without much care to discuss anything, which looked quite strange to me. He didn't want to be there, that was my impression.

I believe the reason is that he/they don't really want to hire, they just have to do the interview for some reason. It's this kind of company were the job ad stays up for like 6 months straight, it becomes obvious at some point that they don't want to hire anyone.

There is also the issue of job posts that are not real, in the sense that the company isn't actually hiring. Unless maybe a unicorn drops on them I guess.

Yes, of course I thought it's a good idea to post this, this is irrelevant. Anyway, after my experience with them I don't respect any of those people, no matter the gender. It's not really a gender issue here. I dislike them all equally xD
