SoulMan··on GitHub Codespaces Alternatives
I have been using Project IDX from Google since last few days. idx.dev Works fairly well in Chrome, has a lot of issues around clipboard in firefox. For beginners its really great as it has some good Hello World template which is usualy the friction for adopting new tool. Also one click deployment and key management is really cool.
SoulMan··on Promising early data in triple negative breast cancer

SoulMan··on See a Satellite Tonight
Yeah I am a regular heaven's above user (too bad they dont have iOS app) but this looked almost spooky when I saw my the sky with my building where I live (pulled from Google street views). At least in stellarium you see random horizon not your own freaking house
SoulMan··on Random Google Street View
I think India was enabled for streetview just a month back. May be its just about updating the site
SoulMan··on India Semiconductor Mission
Yes, so is in Vaccine certificate. They could have spent that money in digital legitimacy instead. Not sure if any other country does it.

SoulMan··on How bad is your Spotify?
My Spottily is filled with children music like Coco-melon etc which I never listen. But kids play this from Alexa and Google home all the time. Spotify should have profiles.
SoulMan··on AWS CloudShell
I think this existed already. Of course GCP one is what I am more familiar with. AWS one seems to have 4G with 2G free. GCP last I checked only had 1G

SoulMan··on Websites that look like desktop GUIs

SoulMan··on India bans TikTok, WeChat, and dozens of other Chinese apps
Interestingly even before this ban, there has been a movement (at least by armchair critics in Social Media) to uninstall Chinese apps. People started installing this unknown app "Remove china apps" to get rid of the apps that Chinese phone makers like Xiomi does not let you remove.

People started removing Chinese apps not because of national security but because they thought it would stop boosting Chinese economy which in turn will come as defense budget

Bigger question is how do you stop the market penetration of mobiles like Oppo/Vivo/Xiomi etc and all the Startups like Ola/Flipkart which is backed by Chinese investment.

SoulMan··on Show HN: SpacedTime – Remember the important things in your life
By time-line I meant any content that is put be it promises or decisions or even imp events like meeting someone new must be stored with a timestamp and can be viewed in a chronological order. Something like facebook timeline, I can jump right back to Jun 2015 with a couple of click and see what was I thinking that time. Something we used to do in a Diary which had a page for a day. This may also help reminding us important recurring event like Birthday's anniversary, insurance premium without having to explicitly look for them
SoulMan··on Show HN: SpacedTime – Remember the important things in your life
I was thinking on the same line, to dump all the personal memories into cloud not just anniversaries and birthdays but also what I promised to others and what I observed or any decision at work so that later I can back myself up with data. Its like a personal journal in case my memory becomes weak. There are things like evernote but they are more of a active notes which you open sometimes infront of others or while screensharing. I wanted something like Date wise or tag wise. It will be great if this can have a timeline. I also thought of making private facebook posts but for obvious reasons its not a good idea.
SoulMan··on Working from home – things no one talks about
Exactly my situation. I am used to working from home and earlier I did only when I had independent work to focus on and not many meetings scheduled on that day. Now it does not work as it seems (it has always been) the other side is not prepared. I know for some people documentation (even simple MOM or writing description in the story ) is an overhead for them. Even some architect level folk love to just talk for an hour in random topics in meetings without any conclusive decision jotted down in notes for future reference. Later after implementation there is always confusion what had we decided to be the behaviour like. Junior engineers do not respond to email or public chat as they think something as to be serious and escalated to do so else just ignore. Overall it seems my family has ben more supporting and confortable than the team while working from home. I don't have dogs and my kinds are happy to be engaged with their grand parents as schools are closed (One of the advantage of traditional Indian famly)
