SimbaOnSteroids··on How China Unleashed Twitter Trolls to Discredit Hong Kong’s Protesters
True, but consider that they're equally productive for any discourse, that is to say a net negative. Therefore it would be pertinent to treat them similarly.

SimbaOnSteroids··on Have You Ever Tried to Sell a Diamond? (1982)
It's a conclusion that you can reach from publicly available financial information, transportation logs, and behavior of the accused. It's not like there's nothing there, it just hit a dead-end because you have a situation where the complicit and co-conspirators are now responsible for the sentencing aspect of proceedings, so the house is basically going to sit on the continuance of the investigation. Additionally a lot of the relevant investigations were handed off to the relevant state prosecutors so the accused can't pardon himself and his underlings.

My point is, it's not so much a propaganda campaign as an obvious juicy news story to be written about and it's predictably not reported on lately because nothings happening out in the open right now, but watch by October 2020 it'll be a thing again, because it'll be politically expedient again.

SimbaOnSteroids··on Are spies more trouble than they're worth?
We (the west) are just starting to understand that China seems to be a mafia state in a similar way that Russia is. I was watching an ABC (the Australian one) report about the rampant corporate misconduct of the Crown Casino, and how they helped launder Triad money in Melbourne. It turns out that a major player in the racket was President Xi's cousin and a high ranking member of the CCP. Additionally, we've seen Triads deployed in Hong Kong recently to attack protestors.

I have to disagree about Sam's segues, they're legitimately one of the best parts of Wendover Production's and Half as Interesting's videos. Unless you're paying attention he gets you every time, and suddenly it's like you're back in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hеll in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.

SimbaOnSteroids··on Japan surpasses China as largest foreign holder of US Treasurys
Chicken or the egg right? Pre WWII we were hit with a massive depression like everyone else. As the war effort ramped up and the rest of the industrialized world was taking it on the chin we conveniently got to reap the economic benefits of having a totally mobilized workforce, without, y'know, all our manufacturing hubs getting Dresden'd. Surprise suprise, we win the war and don't incur heavy infrastructure damage AND get the benefit of a suddenly energized economy, so we do what we do and keep the party going. Stick our noses in Korea, get in a massive arms race with the Soviet Union, fight a couple proxy wars with the Soviets. Well turns out the Soviets are light weights and can't hold their liquor and bow out early. Now we're the only ones with a ginormous army and can subsequently print our own money. We got away with it because everyone that we kept close were highly incentivized not to call us on it, on account of the soviet's nasty habit of rollin up to a place and makin it the quality of life equivalent of an Andy Dick comedy special.
SimbaOnSteroids··on Rental firm walks away from Tesla order after quality dispute
Their infrastructure may be laughable when compared to the experience that we've grown accustomed to as people raised with gas stations everywhere. However it _does_actually_exist_. Which isn't exactly something you can say for the offerings of say Nissan or Chevy. I'd also imagine that if your experience with their charging network was that frustrating it makes you an atypical user; as I can only assume the bulk of people drive their commute everyday, and that's about it, maybe pick up the kids, maybe run a few errands, but not running 200+ miles per day. Meaning you get to charge at night.

I'm not surprised about the bugs, the bugs that are in my parents' Priuses (Prii?) are obnoxious to say the least, and Teslas software is many times more complicated. When you say barebones you mean like lack of cup holders or arm rests, etc? Or just the lack of _stuff_, in much the same way a room painted white feels empty?

SimbaOnSteroids··on Rental firm walks away from Tesla order after quality dispute
Plus their infrastructure lead is literally gargantuan. Charging stations are everywhere, without them you might as well not have roads they can drive on.
SimbaOnSteroids··on Hong Kong student leaders and their families face anonymous threats
It should be noted that there are almost certainly agent provocateurs embedded within the protestors. It would be unlikely that the CCP wouldn't take this step given their other overt displays of force and seeming giddiness to make an example of the protestors that they wouldn't take the extra step to make the protestors look as bad as possible.

Personally, I'd rather be drafted than have to watch my kids and grand-kids go fight in pointless resource wars that will be the result of decades of unchecked climate change. Frankly, the attitude previous generations have had towards climate science has can best be described as criminally negligent.

It's like saying white lives matter or blue lives matter, yeah, duh, no segment of society that wields power has ever questioned that. When you say one of those phrases you're being obtuse and just distracting from a conversation that needs to be had. At which point I've got to assume you've got nefarious reasons for being obtuse.
